Ellie

After a good night's rest and some home cooked food from Grandmother, Uncle James announced that he needed to get back to the pack. My Grandparents were adamant about him not leaving until the summons but he explained that he had been commanded to return home and to bring Ellie with him. My grandmother was pissed as she pursed her lips. The rest of our tome was spent arguing as she wanted to accompany us and offer moral support.

It was then that I interjected, I knew that if Ma came she would have lost her temper and I knew that she would challenge the Alpha. It was something that both me and James would be unable to save her from. Even if we didn't voice it, we knew that Grandmother coming would only add to the stress. I knew that if I was with James I would be protected. He knew how to work around Pack politics, it was something that Grandmother hadn't done for years.

After some deliberation and persuasion from Grandfather, she agreed to stay at home. She gave us many demands that we both had to fulfil and she threatened that if we didn't she would simply drive herself to the pack and hunt us both done. Although her terms were demanding, they were reasonable. She made me and James promise that we would both call her separately and tell her everything was happening. She also made James promise that he would not leave me unattended. James agreed with her condition and said that I would always have someone with me until the summons. It was enough to satisfy my Grandmother's concern.

The car ride was silent but it wasn't uncomfortable and awkward. Uncle James gave me a run down on who I could trust, which is him and Clare. He explained that Clare was one of the Omega's at the pack and she too was rejected by her mate. His voice was filled with a certain affection and fondness when he spoke about Clare, it seemed that he thought highly of her. For him to trust her so deeply, made me nothing but excited to meet her.

It wasn't before long that we pulled up to the same towering silver gates that I had left behind two years ago. James' window was unrolled when he waved his hand to one of the guards that were stood by. It wasn't before long that the gates swung open with a creak and we were driving through a place that I never expected to see again.

The pack land still had the same layout but there was something dull about the place. Florida is generally a very swampy area but it seemed more dire. Was it because when I was last here, I was excited about returning home and living near my family and now I was returning because there was a noose around my neck because of a summons. The grass no longer seemed vibrant and green, it seemed dull and was wilting away.

The weather was dreary and suffocating, the humidity in the air was almost suffocating. I could feel a thick sheen of sweat cling to my skin. I didn't know whether it was because I was readjusting to the climate or whether it was because I was coming face to face with a past that I didn't want to deal with. All I could do was hope that the Elder's listened to me and didn't force me to accept a mate that I didn't want.

I couldn't help but stare at my engagement ring that was on my finger. My thoughts drifted to Seth and how happy he had made me in the last two years. He was my best friend and love of my life. He gave me hope, he restored my faith and self-confidence. He made me feel worthy of love, something that my mate was incapable of doing. The thought of being forced to let go of Seth was something that I didn't want to think about, it caused my wolf to growl.

My wolf, she was annoyed and irritated by the situation. She didn't want her mate anymore, for her he was unworthy of her love and affection. A part of me couldn't help but wonder whether she would accept Seth's wolf but her response was to roll her eyes, she stated that his wolf could have done more to make his human accept us. She thought he was weak.

Her anger and spite for the two made me chuckle, I couldn't help but share her thoughts with James who too found it amusing. James explained his wolf didn't particularly like Samuels after I revealed the truth. I knew that he had to keep a farce up all these years but now that the truth was out he could now hate him openly. James explained his relief at trying to remain amicable with Alpha Samuels.
