Yoongi pov
The door made a horrible high-pitched creak as I opened it. The sound was luckily very quiet, so hopefully no-one would realise. I could only release a sigh in relief as I gazed past the heavy door.
Not only was the sound almost silent, but there were no guards stationed outside. This was both good and bad. The good side meant that I didn't have to try and fight anyone in my weakened state. However, the bad side was that this had me worried.
It didn't make sense.
There were so many things that had happened and gone on that made no sense.
First there was the fact that they had only tied me up.
Second, that they left me with BTS.
Third, the fact that they had left weapons lying around.
And the list went on and on.
It just didn't make any sense.
Why had they made it this easy?
I knew that they knew who I was. I knew that the leader knew me personally. I had recognised him, and with the way he spoke to me... He definitely knew me. But that would only make people more cautious. So why weren't they?
They had made so many mistakes that only helped us to escape. It was like they wanted us to escape. And that made me completely and utterly scared. I didn't like that thought. Or the only other reason it could more. That terrified me more.
That they knew me and didn't care. Or that I had no clue.
I was normally able to deduce anything from any situation. I was able to look at an area for a second and memorise the whole of the place; all the exits, all the people there, the possible weapons, anything that I could use to my advantage. But in this situation, I had no clue about this one thing. And that was by far the scariest thing.
However, I would use these mistakes to my advantage.
Such as the next step to escaping, which was getting through the hallways.
Now, when they had taken Jin and I, they used a simple route. They had started by turning right past the door. I had checked at the time, and to the left was a dead end, so we had to go right. Therefore, I gestured to BTS to stay by the door as I went to check the next turn.
I needed to be as quiet as possible in case there was a guard at the next passageway. So, I kept to the wall on the left, with my body a little bit lowered to the ground. I silently crept along the wall, gently placing my toes first before rolling my heels down to the ground.
When I had been at the Academy, I was infamous for my silent walking. People nicknamed me things like 'Ghost' and 'Chameleon'. They had taught us how to walk quietly, walking toes to heel. But there was another important tactic to use. You had to put down the outside of your feet first, and walk in such a way that your feet would both roll from toe to heel and from the outside of your foot to the arch.
I had practiced this way of walking so much to the point that it became second nature.
And this was exactly when I needed to use this skill.
I was able to sneak all the way to the end of this passageway, and took a quiet deep breath in before popping my head around the wall. I drew it back in just as quickly. There was a guard. Luckily it was only one, and he was facing away from this direction. He had a gun holstered at his side as well as a baton in his right hand. From the small glance I had gotten, he definitely had some knives hidden on his person.
I could only hope that I was strong enough to beat him. I needed to beat him. I would beat him. To save BTS, I had to.
I turned around to look at them. They were all standing in the doorway, looking at me with anxious eyes. Jimin, Taehyung and Jungkook were at the front, their faces revealed the most about what they felt. They had slightly furrowed eyebrows and had pulled their bottom lips into their mouths. It was slightly creepy seeing them all with the same expressions, but I guess that was to be expected with people who had basically spent 24/7 with each other for over seven years. They would obviously pick up habits that each of them had.
Namjoon and Hoseok were behind them with more concealed expressions, but I could still see the twinge of worry glittering in their eyes. I think they were trying to stay strong for Jimin, Taehyung and Jungkook. They probably wanted them to gain confidence if their hyungs were also confident. Surprisingly though, Hoseok was the most convincing. He looked almost completely indifferent to the situation. But, I had seen that look before.
Hoseok was using a blank expression to hide his fear. People were only able to do that if they had been in a situation multiple times that absolutely needed no emotion to be shown. He had obviously gone through something horrible that made him need to learn and use this. I could only imagine what that was.
The way that the Academy had taught us was not a pleasant memory. It was one that I never liked thinking of, and one that not even Baby would mention. And Baby was like a therapist when it came to this stuff, but in this one case, he knew to never ask. Minae, along with Baby and his gang, had gotten over this experience years ago. But I was never able to. The things they did... It was not something I would ever talk about again.
The last person I looked at was Jin.
He was just standing there. He still had that determined glint in his eyes, with fear only just shimmering behind it. He was just looking at me. He seemed to be waiting. Like he was waiting for me to do something. So, I did.
I held up a finger to my mouth, to signal to be quiet, before using the same hand to shoo them back into the room. They needed to stay there until I had dealt with the guard. Although, it seemed like they were reluctant to leave me. But, luckily, with one glance from Jin, they dejectedly disappeared back through the door.
Phew. At least I knew that they would be a little safe in there. I now just had to get past this guard. Once I was past him, I could continue into the next hallway and keep clearing the path for BTS.
I took another quiet deep breath before getting into a better stance. I needed to be ready for this. I was injured so this wouldn't be easy, but there was only one injure I was especially worried about. The others all felt like they could do with some medical treatment, but the injury on my left arm was bad. It felt like it was on fire.
I couldn't deal with it right now though, I had to face this guard. I just had to make sure that the guard didn't use my injury to his advantage. I would just have to keep my arm slightly protected with my body without making it too obvious that it had a massive injury. I could do this.
However, before I could, the guard appeared from around the corner.
And what I saw, I would have never expected.
