Sir! This is not going to be good for our plant. It will destroy it.
I don't care, I'm going ahead with this mission.
I watched as two men argue in a place that looked like a control room. My sight is perfectly fine now, I can see clearly. But what I'm seeing in front of me doesn't look good.
I looked around and tried to figure out where I was but I was completely lost. A lot of people in the room, some typing rapidly into their computers, some were speaking into their earpieces, some where rapidly solving science equations on a transparent board while a man stood by the door screaming orders around the room.

Everyone I looked at were in uniforms, white shirt and black trousers. I saw some military officials in the room too, all trying to get the attention of a man in the room.
I walked deeper into the room, trying to hear what they were saying. A lot of people were talking at once so it was hard for me to listen. But I did hear some words though.

Sir, if you do this, a lot of people will die.

Sir, please do this, think of the possibilities. New York will become the land of special breeds.

Sir, a lot of lives will be in danger, please reconsider.

Sir, you have a family, think about them before you make this decision.

Sir, you will be promoted, a lot of good will come your way if you do this. The future of your generation will be guaranteed if you do this.

Sir, please don't do this, a lot of people will die, or have fatal injuries, please don't do this.

Do it!!

Don't do it!!!

Think about this.

He has done a lot of thinking, he knows what to do.

We all thought about this, let him do it.

Sir, please reconsider.

The ball is in your court, make the logical decision.

I watched them continue to argue around the man. He didn't look like who gave the authority around, he looked more like a weak puppet. He looked about 50 or so, with salt and pepper hair. He wore a uniform like the rest, but his was wrinkled and he looked shaggy. He had tired brown eyes and his hair and beard looked like they haven't been trimmed in the past few weeks. He looked at all the men arguing in front of him with confusion and tiredness.

Sir we've been working on this for the past 3 years, it's not ready to go out yet. Let us wait and run more tests.

I looked at the man talking. He looked really young compared to the rest of the men. Dirty blonde hair and brown eyes to match. He looked cleaner than the old man, he looked like he should be in his 30s and he had a striking resemblance to the old man.

Dad please...

He begged his dad, waiting for his dad to decline whatever was happening.
The old man, however, looked around the room and was met with warning glares from the military officials. After a few seconds of silence, the old man let out a sigh and turned to his son.

I knew that look, he knew that look, everyone in the room knew that look.

Look of defeat and sadness.

The son cried and begged his father, but it was to no avail. The old man turned away from him and pressed the red knob in front of them all, causing alarms to blare.
He turned back but he didn't meet his son's eyes. He just walked away and left us both standing with shock and utter confusion on both our faces.
I watched as he rushed to his father, angrily questioning him about the decision he just made. But all the man did was push his son away from him and leave the room.

Yo?? Old man, what did you just do?

That was the last thing I heard before the room started swirling and everything started disappearing.
I tried to call for help but no one heard me. I saw different colours swim my vision before I was brought back to reality.

I woke up from the bed and took out the warm towel from my head. The first thing I noticed was that everything was still black. But it looked like I had night vision. The next thing I did was call out to my family.
"Mama! Dad! Where's everyone?"

Almost immediately, I heard footsteps and shuffles on the other side of the apartment. I saw my mum, followed by my dad, then Jayden and Andrew stalked behind. They stood by the door to the room and didn't enter.
My mum hugged me tightly to her chest, singing songs of praise and hugging me dad too.

"My Ada, you know me? You know who I am?" She asked and looked at me. I don't know the expression she had on her face since all I could see was green and I couldn't see her face clearly. But I nodded my head in the positive to show her that I still knew her.

"Mama, what's the time?" I asked her, she looked for her phone in a black space. She brought it out and I could see the light from the phone reflecting on her face, but I couldn't see the phone itself.

"It's 3:42 in the morning my dear. What do you want? Are you hungry? What do you want me to cook for you? You haven't eaten at all since the last 4 days, I'm not sure this I.V bag will help you, you look so thin now. Nwam let me eba and ofe nsala for you. I'm coming."
I halted my mum before she went more overboard than she already did.
They all seemed happy that I was back, but I needed to know what happened the last time. My mum said I was out for 4 days and I don't understand the weird dream I had. I needed answers. Fast.

"Mama, you said I was out for 4 days, what happened? From the beginning?" I asked them.

I saw my dad come closer to me and hold my shoulders, engulfing me in his safe and warm embrace, "what do you remember princess?"
I closed my eyes and tried to remember anything that happened.
Me waking up from sleep.. me watching news with my family.. the nuclear blast.. Jayden and Andrew at the balcony door.. mum saying they can't breath..

That was all. I told them all I remembered and also told them about the fact that I am partially blind. I could only see living things and they come in different colours. I told them about my weird dream and looked to them for answers, but none of them knew what I was talking about.
Throughout the time I was telling them, I noticed Jayden and Andrew's figures were still standing by the door.
"Jay Jay, Andy, what's up? Why aren't you coming here?"

"Rose, we're really sorry. We caused this. I wish it was me in this situation. I feel so stupid." He apologized. I knew he meant it. I could hear the sadness in his voice. But there's nothing anyone could do about it. We just had to let it be.
"It's fine, I'm very sure she'll be taken care of. The government must do something about this else I'm suing that company." My dad threatened, but I couldn't care now. I just needed to find answers. I looked down at myself and sure enough, I was still glowing red. But it was not as deep as last time. My mum seemed to notice my behaviour as she stopped my father from saying more things.
"You people should leave her alone, my dear stay here let me cook for you." She said and tried to walk away from the room.

"Mama don't worry, I'm not hungry, I just want to sleep." I said and lay down back on the bed.
I felt my mum lie with me and hug me so tightly. I needed my family, and they were here.

I sighed and moved closer to my mum and slept off almost immediately.
