Annabeth's POV
"I love you too, Dad," I said, giving him a hug.
I waved goodbye to my little step-brothers, and gave my step-mother a quick smile. I dragged my suitcase behind me as I walked to the airport with my purse thumping against my thigh.
I reached the entrance and looked back. My dad's car was already driving away. I sighed and walked in.
The place was bustling with people. I saw a family with about twenty suitcases around them. The funny thing was, there was only four people in the family. A business man was talking loudly in his phone, while a couple nearby with a sleeping toddler were glaring at him.
I went through everything with only one problem. There was a security guard who could see through the Mist. He saw my dagger. The other people thought that he was crazy, and that my dagger was a simple pen. They made him take a break and took away his coffee.
I was on the plane when I sensed something... weird. I furrowed my eyebrows as someone sat next to me. The hair on the back of my neck rose when I sensed something powerful. My hand reached in my purse to where my dagger was as I turned around. Sitting there was... my mom?
"Mom?" I asked, unsure.
She faced me with a smile.
"Annabeth," she said.
"What are you doing here?" I blurted out.
"Well it's nice to know that my daughter is excited to see me," she muttered.
"Sorry. The ADHD, but what ARE you doing here?" I asked.
"I just wanted to see my daughter, and wanted to know exactly why you're on a plane to New York City," she explained.
"Mom, Camp Half-Blood's in Long Island," I said.
I wasn't lying, but I wasn't telling why I really was going there.
"But you usually go in the summer. You stay with your dad the rest of the year. It's November," she said as her eyes narrowed.
I shrugged my shoulders. I looked everywhere, but her eyes. She sighed as she stood up.
"I know what you're doing. You don't have to hide it from me. I'm the goddess of wisdom, Annabeth. I know all," she said before walking away to one of the flight attendants.
She whispered one thing to her as the attendant nodded, and let her off the plane. I sighed and closed my eyes. Before I knew it, I fell asleep.
Percy's POV
I sat back on my bed, fingering a picture in my hands. I held it up to my face. Annabeth was standing there, laughing with me. We sat on Zeus's fist in Camp Half-Blood. The Stolls had taken a picture of it secretly, and given it to me after. Annabeth was furious. Man, I missed her so much.
"Percy, dinner's ready!" my mom called.
I put the picture on the side table. I stood up and went to the dining room. My step-father, Paul Blofis, sat next to my mom.
"Hey, Mom. Hey, Paul," I said, waving my hand a bit.
"Percy! Nice to see you out here!" Paul exclaimed with a rumble of laughter.
I smiled and sat down. My mom had already set out the food. It was blue biscuits and steak.
"Yum," I commented as I grabbed a biscuit.
I bit into it to taste garlic and cheese. I closed my eyes, savoring it. Then I put a piece of steak on my plate and ate it. After I was done, I went back to my room. I was thinking too much about Annabeth. If I wasn't going to talk to her soon, I was going to explode. So, I reached into my drawer and got a drachma. I went to the bathroom and locked the door. Turning on the lights, I made some water turn to mist in the air. The light shone in the mirror, making a rainbow.
"Oh Iris, goddess of the rainbow, please accept my offering," I said, throwing the drachma into the rainbow,"Show me Annabeth Chase."
Annabeth appeared in front of me. Her eyes widened and she shot her hand through the Iris message, making her disappear without a word spoken. I looked in the mirror and saw hurt and confusion in my eyes. I shut them and shook my head. I was truly confused. Why hadn't Annabeth wanted to talk to me? I frowned and went to bed. But I couldn't sleep. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw how she quickly tried to avoid me. I saw how her eyes flashed with surprise and a little by of fear. What had she been doing? After an hour, I fell into a restless sleep.
