The next day Abuela tells me and Camilo to go down to the village. "Y/n, there are some jobs the people need you to do, with your gift I mean." She tells me after we finish breakfast. "Of course, Abuela, I'm always happy to help." A couple minutes later Camilo and I arrive in the village. A man in a straw hat runs up to us. "Y/n! Just the person I was looking for! Can you move the water from the well and fill up the donkey's watering troughs? I'd do it myself but it takes hours to go back and forth with the buckets!" I nod, "Of course, I'm here to help, I'll go do it now." He thanks me before walking off. "Looking at my girl go, using her gift to help people." Camilo says, punching my arm playfully. I blush hard at his words 'my girl'. With a wave of my hand I lift up a long snake of water from the nearby well. Camilo jokes around as we head over to the paddocks. The water splashes into the troughs, filling them to the brim. Camilo claps enthusiastically, and I take a bow.

As we are laughing, a young woman runs up to us. "Y/n! I need your help!" She exclaims, catching her breath. "What is it?" I ask, as she leads us back into the village. "The river got blocked up by a fallen tree. It's caused flooding in a couple homes. Can you get the water out of the homes?" She asks anxiously as we approach the river. I nod and look over to see a thick tree blocking the narrow river. "I need to unblock the river first, is Luisa around?" I say, looking around at the 5 or so people gathered around. "I'll go find her," a young man says, running off. A few minutes later he returns, followed by Luisa. "Don't worry kiddo, I'll get this sorted," she says, clapping me on the back. We all clap as she hoists the tree trunk out of the river and tosses it to the side. The water gushes freely, but the houses remain flooded. "Thanks Luisa," Camilo and I say. After she heads we enter the first of the 3 homes that are situated on the bank. The water is ankle deep. I concentrate on the water around me, feeling it against my feet and ankles. Slowly, I begin to move my arms, waving them gracefully around myself. The water begins to swirl and rise up, encircling me. Soon I am surrounded by a spinning wall of water. I carefully pull the water into a huge ball in front of me, closing my eyes in concentration. The floors of the house are as dry as ever as I walk out of the house and release the water into the river. The people clap appreciatively, and Camilo cheers.

After I repeat the process for the other 2 houses, I am thanked gratefully by their owners. "It's no problem at all," I insist. Camilo watches me from a little way away as I am hugged and thanked, a proud smile on his face. "What are you smiling about?" I ask him as we say goodbye to the people and head to the market to grab lunch. "Just how amazing you are," he says, blushing. "I'm just glad my gift is useful." I say and he laughs. "Of course it's useful! You can help so many people!" I smile shyly, blush sprinkling my face again. After a stop for lunch, and a few more chores, we head back to Casita for dinner. "Mmh I can smell Julietas cooking from here!" I say as I sniff the air. It's almost time for lunch. I walk into the kitchen, and stop dead in my tracks. Camilo crashes into me, not realising that I had stopped walking. "Y/n what-" He begins, rubbing his head, but then he too stops. There, holding a tray of empanadas, is Gracie.

"Hey guys!" She says brightly. Julieta takes the tray from her and turns to us. "Ay Camilo, Y/n, Gracie came over to find you, but you weren't here so she offered to help make dinner!" She gives Grace an affectionate look. "Oh Julieta it was no trouble at all!" Gracie says with a sweet smile. I gag a little bit. "That's, nice of you Gracie," I say, practically forcing the words out of my mouth. "Yeh.." Camilo says, scratching the back of his head uncertainly. She comes over with a plate of arepas. "I wanted to help out, get to know your family, since I'm going to be staying in Encanto for the foreseeable future!" I cringe a little but force a smile. "Well, it's going to be great having you around." I say, hiding the sarcasm in my voice. "Besides, Camilo, you promised you'd hang out with me today!" She says, batting her eyes at him. I whip my head around, a confused expression on my face. "Um, did I?" He asks, obviously just as confused as I am. I open my mouth to say something but I'm cut off by the entrance of the rest of the family. "Oh! Hello Gracie, nice to see you here," Agustin exclaims, as he sees her. Pepa, Felix, Isa, Luisa, Mirabel and Abuela all greet her warmly, thanking her for her help. I roll my eyes as she insists she's only doing her part. As Dolores enters she spots Gracie and gives her a cold stare, coming to sit down next to me. Antonio scuttles around the table to sit down next to his sister, too shy to say hi to Gracie. Dolores leans over and whispers in my ear, "I heard what she said about you and Camilo, don't worry, I can see through her act." She smiles at me. A reassuring smile. "Thanks Dolores, that means a lot." I smile back at her, showing my appreciation. Bruno walks in, but upon seeing Gracie, he stops, grabs an empanada, and leaves. Gracie looks surprised and slightly offended. "Oh don't worry chica, Bruno doesn't really like meeting new people." Julieta tells her as the rest of the family sits down to eat.

Finishing my dinner quickly, and after telling Camilo I need to do something, I excuse myself from the table. I had an idea, and I needed to go to the village. Camilo does so much for me, I need to do something for him. I grabbed my bag Mirabel made me from my room, and counted the money inside. Should be enough.. I think and I leave the house, heading towards the village. Yarn, yarn, i need yarn... I think to myself as I scan the various stores. A bundle of yellow catches my eye. Yarn! Finally! I pay for 4 bundles of yarn, various shades of yellow and orange. Perfect. Hiding it in my bag, I hurry back to the house. I find Mirabel as she leaves the kitchen. "Mirabel!" I hiss. "Y/n? What is it-" She asks as I pull her into a nook. "I need your help! I'm going to knit a sweater for him, but I can't do it by myself." Mirabel's face cracks into a huge smile. "You're making him a sweater?!" She squeals. "Shh, yes yes I am. He always does stuff for me, it's my turn." Mirabel jumps up and down, containing her excitement. "That is so cute! Ugh I'm so glad Camilo has you," she whispers. "Of course I'll help, come on let's get started."

2 hours later Mirabel and I are standing in the middle of her room, our hands aching from crocheting. Laying on the bed is a long sleeved, yellow and orange sweater. Tiny chameleons line the sleeves, inspired by his gift and his ruana. I let out a contempt sigh. "It looks great, Y/n." Mirabel says, squeezing my arm. "He's gonna love it." I pick up the sweater. "Thank you so much Mirabel, I couldn't have done it without you." I hug her tightly, showing my appreciation. "Hey, come to me anytime, I'm a great wingman." She adds with a flick of her hair. I laugh and hug her one more time, before going to find Camilo. I hope he likes it...
