taehyun watched outside his window, the rain beat against it softly. he couldn't stop thinking of a certain song he heard the day before, it sounded so pretty.

actually, yeonjun had dragged him to a high school because of a talent show that was being held there. he saw many great performances but a certain song caught his attention the most.

he could barely see who sang the song due to being at the far back of the room but he could make out two boys on the stage. unfortunately, he and yeonjun had to leave early because their break had ended so they didn't get to hear who won the prize but he was almost sure it had to be the two boys who sang.

"taehyun!" someone hollered while knocking on the blondes door.

"come in." he hollered back. a dark haired lady which is taehyuns mom entered.

"me and your father will be going to a house party tonight, will you be okay?" she asked as she sat next to her son, which he scooted away.

"yes, ill be okay. have fun." he responded coldly.

the lady frowned a bit making taehyun feel guilty but he couldn't help it.

"o-okay, feel free to invite junnie over then." she said rubbing his back before leaving the room.

the truth is, taehyun and his parents we're never really close. they had struggled a lot with money when he was younger and would work long hours resulting in them never being home.

taehyun was only seven years old raising himself. he would bathe, clean, and cook all for himself. he never wanted toys or name brand things, all he ever wished for was family activities like movie and game nights, but by the time they could finally do any of that taehyun had already gotten used to being alone.

but nothing had ever changed because all his parents do even now is related to work. house parties, business trips, important dinners and meetings. taehyun hated it. every since he was young money and work had been the only priorities. they never once asked what he wanted since he was a kid, they just bought and gifted him expensive things in hope he'd forgive all those miserable year's of loneliness.

taehyun sighed, why can't he just have a life like yeonjun? friends, family, socializing, smarts, it all came to him so easily while taehyun had to struggle.

at least now, taehyun and his mom we're a bit more closer. he would hug her sometimes, maybe blow her a kiss. he could tell she was genuinely trying to make him happy, she just doesn't know how to.

taehyuns father on the other hand, he could care less about his son. you can ask mr. kang about his dreams and goals in life and not a single one would include the poor boy. work, business, money, popularity, that's all mr. Kang thought of.

just as taehyun stood up he heard his phone ding indicating he got a notification.

junnie : mind if i come over??

taehyun smiled, replying back 'sure' which the older quickly responded to.

"i guess ill make some dinner then.." he spoke aloud to himself.

he toddled downstairs, grabbing a pot from the cabinet and filling it halfway with water. he waited for the water to boil before putting two servings of ramen into the boiling water. he also boiled some eggs so that the meal would have a bit more effort to it.

"mm, perfect." he said as he placed the two bowls of ramen onto the counter.

a few minutes later yeonjun arrived since they didn't live too far from each other.

"i made us some food!" taehyun smiled.

"really! thank you taehyunnie!" yeonjun side hugged the younger.

"mhm!" taehyun hummed before leading the dark-haired boy to the kitchen.

they both sat at the counter and began to eat, talking about random stuff.
