Reseda, California. A young boy finds himself in the form of martial arts and learns to flourish and grow confidence because of it. His teacher, an old Japanese man, gives him the knowledge that he needs to start to become the man he is soon to be. He conquers his challenge in the form of the All-Valley tournament, winning against his enemy and becoming the champion. It's a tale that would be told for decades after it happened, showing the true underdog nature of said boy.

But that's all in the past now. That boy has grown up and become an auto dealer with a family of his own. His daughter, Sam LaRusso, and her old friend sit on her couch, both looking at their phones as they wait for the rest of the LaRusso family to arrive for lunch. [Your name], bored with her now dwindling Instagram feed, glances over at Sam's phone to see her scrolling through pictures from her date last night. [Your name] smiles as she turns to face her and asks, "So, how was it last night?" Sam looks up at her and smiles back as she turns her phone off.

"Oh, it was great! We went to Gold N' Stuff and played mini-golf, did some arcade games, and he got me a stuffed octopus. It was really fun!" she recalls while lifting one arm to rest on the back of the couch. [Your name] nods and bounces slightly.

"That does sound like fun! Did you guys kiss?" she asks cheekily. Sam laughs as her brother, Anthony, walks into the room and sits down on the couch beside them, playing on one of his many video game devices. Same glances at him and puts a finger to her lips.

"I'll tell you later," she whispers before turning back to her phone to show her friend the pictures more. They both smile as Sam scrolls through them, with [Your name] adding in the occasional 'That one's cute.' Soon the doorbell rings, making Anthony spring up and shout as he rushes to the door to open it for the rest of the LaRusso family. Sam and [Your name] share a look before getting up and following suit. They walk up as Sam's grandma, Lucille, hugs Anthony, making her look up at the two girls.

"Oh, Sammie! When are you gonna stop getting so pretty? And you, [Your name]. You look so much older than the last time I saw you!" she says. Before either of the girls could respond, she turns her attention to Daniel, who has just come down the stairs, and hugs him. Sam and [Your name] both give short waves to Louie, who's standing behind his aunt, to which he nods in return. The kids then make their way out to sit at the table outside as the adults continue their greetings.

It doesn't take long for everyone to come outside and start preparing lunch since everyone was fairly hungry. The conversation was basic as well, consisting of how are you's, how's school, and other bits of small talk, though it doesn't take long for Daniel to start talking about his karate rival, Johnny Lawrence.

"You know, it's bad enough that this monster is teaching kids. Now he's somehow convinced the All-Valley board to let Cobra Kai back in the tournament," he complains while taking hot dogs off the grill.

"Oh, that's horrible. They can't let them back! Oh, they're nothing but a bunch of bullies," Lucille agrees. [Your name] glances at Sam as she turns to look at her grandmother.

"They can't all be bullies, right?" she asks. [Your name] nods and leans forward slightly.

"Yeah, there's this kid at school I know in Cobra Kai and he's pretty nice," she says. Lucille gives them both a stern look and holds one of her hands out.
