Chapter 18
Preparation and suspicion
After the opening ceremony.
"Oh man, all those people" said Lily nervously.
"Ah, don't worry about it", said Emily. "If you focus on your duelling instead of everyone else, you'll be fi-". Emily then bumped into someone. Upon looking up, she saw that it was Richard Dagger.
"Um, hi" said Emily nervously. Richard just stared at them until he saw the mark on Emily's arm.
"You shouldn't be here" said Richard, in a smooth, almost oily voice.
"What do you mean by that?" Asked Kelsey sounding rather agitated at that statement.
"Places like these often attract rather, strange people" answered Richard.
"Should I be worried?" Asked Emily.
"Only if you have people that don't like you and are out to get you" answered Richard.
"Ah, cool down Dicky". They then saw Rodrick place his hand on Richard's shoulder.
"You're scaring the kids" said Rodrick.
"You to know each other?" Asked Jack.
"Yeah, we're related" answered Richard.
"So, you guys are brothers?" Asked Emily.
"In Laws actually", corrected Richard. "He married my sister last year".
"Yeah, sorry about Dicky", said Rodrick. "Out of the two siblings he was always the serious one".
"And YOU are far too kind for your own good" added Richard.
Meanwhile.
Vicky was talking to someone on her phone.
'So, you remember our deal?'
"I do", answered Vicky in a voice that sound like the very life force was being drained from her. "You'll keep your promise, won't you? And make it go away?".
'I promise. It will never hurt you again'. The call then ended and Vicky put her phone away. She then felt something wrap around her neck. She started to cough.

"You can't get rid of me so easily", said a voice that was laced with toxic venom. "I AM your VERY soul. Just remember that". Whatever was wrapped around her neck was now gone and Vicky started to pant. Even shedding a few tears.
