The drive had been silent, neither willing to open any form of dialogue. Beni was the first to speak, " Dad can I ask you something?" He said, in a small and wavering voice. Can held his breath, his heart literally pounding out of his chest, " Of course son, what's on your mind." He asked, with his head already trying to find the right words to explain to his son what he had just seen. " Well I know I have asked before, but I will ask again, ...could you show me how to use your camera. Just one of your old ones, one that I can learn on." Can turned to look at him for the first time since they had got into the car, " My camera, you want to learn how to use my camera. That's right you have ask me before and I failed to give you an answer." He answered. His relief had to have been obvious, as he finally released the air that had been trapped inside his lungs.
Beni smiled at his him, " Don't worry Dad, I'm not going to ask about earlier. I know what the answer would be, "it's just grownup stuff Beni,".....am I right?" The boy said quite firmly. Can could hardly contain his laughter, but cleared his throat, then said, " Yes son that's right, and thank you for understanding. And about the camera, we will start your lessons on how to take care of a camera and how to take the best photos this evening after dinner. How's that?" Beni shook his head enthusiastically, never happier than to be able to spend time with his Dad alone.
After Can dropped Beni at school, the drive to the agency was uneventful, with only the occasional thought of that mornings surprise with his wife in the lounger. He missed their spontaneous and spur-of-moment encounters. Now they had to be more careful about how affectionately they portrayed their feelings for each other. It was almost like setting up a schedule or booking an appointment to make love to your wife. He tried to book that appointment every single night, but some times she was just to tired to put her full effort into it. So just to cuddle and hold her until she fell asleep, letting himself be wrapped in the aroma of her, sometimes that was enough. But this morning he had felt the energy from her, that desire of wanting him, that ache of wanting it to go further, but what is that saying, " wrong place, wrong time" couldn't have been more appropriate.
Sanem had finally gotten the triplets cleaned up from breakfast, and the dishes loaded into the dishwasher. Ece has taken on the role of the leader, always showing the other two how things were done. So as they played in the playroom, Sanem was in the next room taking some time to put all her feeling on paper. She still did this everyday, it was her sounding board so to speak, her way to make sense of her life. She would listen to her babies in the next room playing and forming their lives, what better way to get to know someone than to secretly hear them and how they interact with others. She smiled as she overheard them, Ruslan was not at all interested in playing dress up, but Ece wouldn't take no for an answer as she forced him to put on a cowboy hat and ride in the rocky horse, as she and Miray ran in circles, hooping and hollering as if they were indians. That was something they had since on one of the movies that they had watched with Beni a few days before.
She knew this wouldn't always be her life, those children would grow up and have other things to do, leaving her to find herself again. But she knew she would always have Can and her writing. She felt a shiver of delight tickle her insides as she remembered their brief encounter earlier that morning, where had that come from she wondered. It seemed to explode like a bomb when she touched him, maybe she needed him more than she realized. Then the thought of Beni popped into her mind, she had to cover her mouth with both hands to keep from laughing out loud. Poor Can, she thought, "i wonder what kind of questions he had to answer before he got him to school." But she knew if anyone could handle it, it would be her husband.
Can had promised to pick Beni up from school and take him home. He was more than anxious to get started on how to work the camera. He was excited that Beni was taking such an interest in photography, and more than proud to show him the proper way to capture an image. Right after they returned from Peru and set up their lives in this beautiful home, Can had turned the room just off of the garage into a dark room so he could develops his photos. Beni loved to sneak into that room and look around, in awe of how his father could make a picture appear magically on a piece of paper. That was definitely something he wanted to do.
Those three bundles of energy had finally given in to sleep, as they went down for their afternoon nap. Their favorite place to nap was in the family room, with the curtains drawn making it look like nighttime, and with some soft music playing on the stereo. It was Sanems most relaxing time of the day, as they could feel herself destress and welcome the peace and quiet. She had decided a long time ago that she didn't want help, she wanted to do this all by herself, but of course she needed Can to assist her from time to time. But the raising, the shaping and the loving of those tiny humans would be hers and Cans responsibility. She did have her moments of regret about that, wishing for a afternoon of uninterrupted sleep or time to simply sit with a book and get lost in it's words. That is until all three of her miracle babies would climb up into her lap, squeeze her neck, and cover her with their sweet and neverending kisses.
Thats when she knew just how happy she really was......just how content her life had been. That's when she knew she wouldn't change anything in her life. That's when she knew that Can was more to her than just her husband, he was her other half, her soulmate, her partner for life.
She smiled as she thought about all those things that made her happy, and she wondered how she got so lucky.
She heard the door open and shut and then the sound of Beni as he ran in ready to give her a kiss. " Mom we're home." He said as he wrapped his arms around her. This one had been the first one to fill her heart with that feeling of motherhood, to make her heart jump with excitement just to look at him. She hugged him tightly, " How was school my love. Do you have homework?" She asked as Can followed him in. The sight of this man made her shiver, it always had, " Hello my dear, I missed you." He replied leaning down to kiss her gently on the cheek. She closed her eyes and welcomed the touch, the feel of him, his breath that warmed her whole body.
This was her life......this is what she lived for. The kiss lingered that for a second, as they both knew what the other one was thinking. They both wanted a continuation of that event from the morning, as his eyes connected with hers. But once again Beni broke that spell of desire, " No, no homework today mom, it's Friday. But Dad is going to show me how to work the camera" He shouted, wedging his way in between the two......
Can smiled and winked at her..relaying a message that was meant only for her.
His eyes said..." Later my love.....you will be mine."
She returned the smile and the message.......
