News about Itto's dead body spread all around Inazuma quite quickly. Even the Shogun was aware of the situation, she was asked in many interviews, just like the Tenryou Commission. Of course, the sudden death of Arataki Itto was very unexpected. Kujou Sara, the second commissioner of the Tenryou commission said, that there's no need to get worried, and whoever committed the crime will be caught.
Ei on the other hand couldn't care less about the death. She knew nothing about the man, which led her to not react in anyway. Still, she said that she'd try everything she could to protect the citizens from this new threat.
That time, she was staying in her room, trying to find answers. Who would do it, why do it. According to the detective agency, the culprit was most likely someone bigger than the oni, stronger, taller, that kind. Ei didn't know anyone such, which made her think more.
"What if it's only what they want us to think...", she said out-loud. Since the Itto's body didn't have any noticeable wounds, and it was in water, upside down. Her thoughts got distracted from a knock on the door. She immediately got up from her bed and walked to open it. There was the lady she expected to see if someone, Yae Miko.
"You did quite well in the interviews, not forgetting that you yourself have no clues about the crime or the victim himself.", Yae said with slightly worried, but also excited tone.
"Are you trying to refer me as the killer?" Ei asked, obviously confused about what the other meant. Yae giggled and walked inside the room, which made Ei close the doors as soon as she got in.
"No, dear. What I tried to say is you did well. Even if you don't know what happened at all, that's what I meant.", Yae said calmly as she looked around the room. Ei noddled slightly and walked slightly behind the kitsune lady.
"This is about the fortune I got, correct?" she asked. Yae hummed quietly, with a small yet warm smile as she sat down. Ei sat right next to her and was ready to have a long and serious conversation.
"After you left, I also got myself a fortune. It was also a misfortune, but the description was a little different from yours.", Miko said slowly as she showed two fortune slips, both of them saying misfortune on a big text. Ei narrowed her eyes at the fortunes and nodded slightly. What Ei didn't know that it wasn't Yae's real fortune. It was someone elses, someone's who she had read right before meeting the Shogun.
"Your's says that something will slowly start to happen, which in the end will come as a hard cost. Mine says almost the same, but I will also get involved into something... Dreadful.", Yae continued as she gave Ei a closer look of the fortunes.
"What if that oni's death was apart of this? There might start a chaos that will slowly get rid of all of us, one by one. Perhaps a new enemy?" Raiden said slowly, taking breaks between her sentences. Yae thought for a moment, then replied.
"That could be the case, or then it could be a virus of sorts. Maybe the waters are turning poisonous from Orobashi's blood and infects people like that?", she said and shrugged slightly. Ei went completely quiet in thought. Miko giggled a little bit at the other's reaction.
"That's also possible. I saw a dream last night, quite a curious one... The city was empty, not a soul could be sensed as the thunders were raging. I tried to stop it, but nothing happened. Then suddenly you appeared behind me and said... Something... I can't remember what it was, but it got me awake.", Ei told as Yae's eyes widened.
"What a curious dream indeed... What if the fortunes and your dream are trying to tell us a bigger story? Maybe it has to do with us two, only the two of us? Or maybe the dream doesn't have anything to do with it, maybe you just... Missed my company?" Yae said with a small smile. Ei looked down at the wooden floor, then suddenly stood up.
"I will inform the Kujou Clan about our ideas. I'm sure they will do all they have. No matter what the cause might be. If Orobashi's blood is causing the citizens to pass like that, I'm sure they can find a solution to it.", Raiden said and was already about to exit the room. Miko immediately got up and walked behind the other, placing her hand on her shoulder.
"Don't you think you place a little too much pressure on them? You always say that they will get the job done, no matter what it is. I bet it's getting a little overwhelming for them...", she said with a pouty voice. Ei turned around and put her own hand on the other's shoulder.
"Miko, you know what must be done. I'm trying to protect my people, just like us two. We could have a mass murderer in Inazuma or then it could've been unintentional. Maybe the man just drowned, which seems unlikeable, but we still need to find out the truth.", Ei said determined. Yae admired how confident Ei was in herself, just like in the commission itself. A little too confident.
"I understand, dear Archon.", she replied with a calm smile. Ei nodded slightly and opened the doors to the room. Then she created an Eye of Storm and walked through it, then disappeared. Yae took one last look of the room, then also left.
She turned in her kitsune form and ran off in the wild. Near the ocean, she saw a small waverider and turned back in her human form, leaving a small tail visible under her dress. She got on the waverider and sailed. She had no idea where she was about to go. Maybe with the one who she belonged with? No. She was ready to finish what she started. A real tragedy. She already had a plan in mind. The only question was, how would she fulfill it. That she still thought of as she reached the island of Kannazuka,
"We'll see about that one. I just need to get the correct one's attention."
