CHAPTER FIVE

gun fights and agreements𝓣he once foggy skies finally began to clear up as the Interceptor got further and further away from Isla De Muerta. The sun began to peak through the few clouds in the sky, it's warm rays on their skin being very much welcomed by Elizabeth and Alice as they waited for Alice's tail to dry. They hadn't felt the sun's warmth for over a day, and it felt very revitalising to feel it once again, especially after what they'd been through together.
But the drying of Alice's tail seemed to be taking a bit longer than expected. The cloth was thought to be helping, but it dawned on them quite quickly that Elizabeth's hair was dripping water onto the tail, therefore making her efforts with the cloth quite useless. So Elizabeth stood and had Mr. Gibbs replace in her seen as he was much dryer than she was. Mr. Gibbs was quick to take the cloth and try his best to rub the tail dry without hurting the scales that covered it. He started off quite slow, as he couldn't take his eyes off the colour of the scales and the shape of the tail's fin. He was almost in awe of it all, but was soon nudged back to reality by Will who had come to stand next to Elizabeth. Mr. Gibbs put a hand up to say sorry before he began to fully focus on drying the tail. It only took a few seconds after that for Alice to already feel the tingling of her transformation beginning. And that's when she finally changed back to her human-self in just a matter of seconds, much to the surprise of Mr. Gibbs, Will and a number of the crew stood around. They had never seen anything like it before, and certainly didn't expect the change to happen like it did.
"Thank the lord for that." Alice muttered as she tidied the sleeves of her maid dress. "A little help, Mr. Gibbs?" She held her hand out towards him.
"Oh, of course." Mr. Gibbs knocked himself out of his surprised state to put the cloth onto the floor so he could take her hands and help her to her feet. "My apologies for being so...surprised."
"It's alright." She reassured. "It's not something you see every day."
"No, it for sure isn't." He looked her up and down, not quite believing that mere seconds ago she had a mermaid tail.
"Mr. Gibbs, is there something in the hull we can use the bind a cut?" Will questioned.
"There should be." Mr. Gibbs nodded. "Take what you like. It is a navy ship after all."
"You two go." Alice spoke to both Elizabeth and Will. "I'll stay up here and keep an eye out."
"You're not mad at me, are you?" Elizabeth asked her out of nowhere, which had Alice a little confused as she turned to face her. "I can understand why but I don't want you to be."
"What makes you think I'm mad at you?"
"You want to stay up here away from me." Elizabeth's reply made Alice sigh.
"Elizabeth, it's not that."
"I can understand if you are. I wasn't careful enough. And now your secret is out to people who should have never found out. I should have been more careful and should have never let Will go near you while wet."
"If it makes you feel any better, we won't say a word to anyone outside of this ship." Mr. Gibbs spoke up.
"You better not say anything." Will warned him.
"We won't. You have our word, right lads?" He spoke louder to the crew stood around and they all nodded. Their nods were hesitant if anything but they still nodded.
"Lizzie, it's fine" Alice spoke to her.
"But it's not fine," Elizabeth replied. "You could have been cast off and lost if not for Mr. Gibbs. It's okay if you're upset or mad, I should have been more careful and I promise I will be. I allow you to be mad at me for this. Full permission granted."
