Angel

I headed to work on Saturday morning around 8:30, before Dad and my brothers were up. Mom had told me before I left, that both Dad and her would be at the coffee shop before his appointment.

Everyone at the coffee shop knows my parents' orders. Dad loves coffee, but caffeine has been affecting him a lot, but decaf doesn't affect him at all.

I waved a good morning to my boss and some of my coworkers. They were all very nice, and knew my family well. Especially my grandparents. I tossed on my apron, and got working around in the back, putting the pastries into the oven, and whatnot. Before I knew it, one of my coworkers, Anna, came in to tell me my dad ordered.

Anna was around my age, and worked for fun as well. We were friends outside of work too.

"'Kay, I'm about to head out to the front. " I said, since the two other workers have arrived for their 10:30 shift. I tossed my last batch of muffins into the oven.

"Sure, mind helping Gloria man the cash register?" She asked me.

"Of course, no problem." I walked out and started taking orders, after giving a small wave to my dad. "Next!"

As the morning rush started to slow down, Gloria and I would chat a little.

"How's Brayden doing?" She asked me eventually.

"Um, I actually broke up with him."

"Really?"

"Yeah, he was a douchebag."

"Damn, boys suck." Anna commented, making someone's coffee.

"I know, right?" I smiled. A customer walked in. "Hi, how may I help you?"

"Can I get a double shot expresso, and a chocolate croissant?"

"Yeah, no problem. Your total is seven dollars and ninety six cents." Before I knew it, my shift had ended, and I was grabbing my stuff to head out. Gloria, Anna, and I would often chat about boys, our siblings, and more. Before I had left, my coworkers wished me an advanced happy birthday, considering that my birthday was in two weeks, and I called off work for it.

Mom shot me a quick text message reminding me that we were going to our friends' later. By our friends, we were going to Steven and Pippa's house. Yes, Steven Pasquale, and Phillipa Soo. The legends.   They had a six year old daughter, Sundance. She was an adorable, little girl, and I absolutely adored her.

I replied back a thumbs up, and that I was on my way home. Mom then told me she and Dad would be back by 1:30PM to go. I suspected we would be there for hours, they all got along really well, and my siblings got along tremendously with Sundance.

We'd usually meet up once a month, but things have been extremely chaotic lately, and we have been trying to find a new normal. Tomorrow, I was planning to have a day with just Mom. We'd planned it over the course of the past week or so.

Speaking of the past week, it's been quite dramatic. Francisco did not take the seizure Dad had on Tuesday well. I mean, it's not like he's scared of Dad or anything, he's just quite mortified, and has a lot of anxiety over it.

It took him two days to sleep by himself again. He's still kind of horrified, and clingy. So, we have to be really sensitive around him. Other than that, Sebastian's adapting quite well. I had let him take the lead on Thursday, and he did everything well, and carefully, even after Dad woke up.

He'd earned a tremendous amount of responsibility after that. In a good way of course. Sebastian wasn't bombed with things to do, because he was still eleven years old. He was trusted to be able to do a lot of things now, such as babysit his brother for two hours maximum, and going to the park with his friends whenever, with the courtesy of his six o'clock curfew, etc.,. Let's just say, he was rewarded.
