"I should get back to work," I say moving a strand of my hair behind my ear.
"We don't really have much to do today so you should stay" Nayel grins running his fingers up and down my naked thigh.
I roll my eyes, "Yes because no one is going to get suspicious if I'm in here all day with the door locked" I say sarcastically getting off Nayel's desk.
Nayel grabs my wrist and pulls me into his lap making me gasp, "If anyone questions it, they get fired" Nayel kisses my wrist softly sending shivers down my spine.
"As hot as this whole you're the boss thing is" I bite my lower lip, "It's not the solution to everything" I smile.
Nayel furrows his eyebrows, "Why not? You do understand I could fire everyone in this building if I want to, including the HR team"
"And then what? Just you and I alone in the office?" I chuckle.
"Yeah" Nayel shrugs and then a sly smirk appears on his lips.
"What?" I ask confused.
"I'm just thinking about all the tables I can bend you over if it were just you and I in the office," Nayel says, his eyes growing slightly darker.
My cheeks start heating up as I shake my head flustered, "Okay I'm going" I say getting off his lap.
Nayel chuckles following behind me, "Do you want to sneak out of here at lunch? I can get us a longer break. The boss and I are really tight"
I laugh, turning around to face him again, I move closer to him to fix his tye, "As nice as that sounds" I pause moving away, "I can't, I promised Winston I'd go to lunch with him. He needs help with a case" I smile.
"And you're the only person available?" Nayel groans.
"I actually offered, it's a really interesting case. You know this is the first time in a while law has excited me" I say.
"Right how convenient for him" Nayel snaps.
I furrow my eyebrows, "Don't be like that he's my friend"
"Your friend who wants to sleep with you," Nayel says raising his voice a little.
"There's nothing going on between us, you know that" I don't know why I need to explain anything to Nayel.
"Does he know that?" Nayel snaps.
"C'mon," I say growing annoyed.
"What is this date number 2 or 3?" Nayel raises his eyebrows at me.
I roll my eyes, "it's not like you take me out on dates so why are you getting mad?"
"So you are going on a date with this guy?" Nayel glares at me.
"What?" I cross my arms getting annoyed, "No, this is literally two colleagues getting lunch together." I say.
"Just like how we'd be getting lunch together?" Nayel growls.
I bite the inside of my cheek, "What is that supposed to mean?"
"You know what I'm talking about Maria" Nayel argues.
"I don't feel about Winston the way I feel about you Nayel," I say, his eyes start softening for a second.
"Then stop leading him on. He thinks you're into him" Nayel huffs.
"No he doesn't jeez" I run my hands through my hair, "We are friends, do you really believe a woman and man can't be friends?"
"That's not the problem, don't make me out to be some jealous freak" Nayel grunts, "I have no problem with you having male friends I just don't understand why you want to hang out with a guy who's very clearly hung up on you, you're essentially leading him on" Nayel throws his hands into the air.
"I have told him I'm not interested in him, he knows we're just friends. We are literally going to work on a case together for God's sake." I groan.
"I just don't like you hanging out with him when we both know how he feels about you," Nayel says.
I roll my eyes, "No offense Nayel but it's not like you take me out on dates or like you're my boyfriend so you really have no right to get mad for who I hang out with"
"But we have a thing going on" Nayel stares at me confused, "I'm expressing that I don't like you hanging out with this guy who's into you"
"What thing is it? because as much as I enjoy it I don't know what it is so I can't really cut everyone you don't like out for no reason" I stare at him blankly.
Nayel goes silent as he stares at me. I sigh, "I should get back to work," I say simply and step out of his office without saying another word.
.....
Winston was making notes about the case and revising it orally with me, trying to see if we can find something that might not be in the files. However, I was somewhere completely different.
I was distracted by the fight I had with Nayel today. The past 3 weeks have been really wondrous, it's weird how great Nayel and I get along when we're not bickering. We still bicker don't get me wrong, that's always going to be our thing. I smile to myself then quickly bring my hand to cover my face so Winston doesn't notice but I don't know what this thing with Nayel is.
First off, we spent the last 2 years hating each other so are we just going pretend it didn't happen and have a relationship or are we just going to sleep together a couple of times and then boom over? Because I am not going to be a one-night stand especially when I actually really like this guy. But, he's also my boss which makes things more complicated so I don't know what Nayel wants from me. I honestly don't even know if I could say we're "seeing" each other. We've never gone on a date or even hung out outside work so what even is this thing? For all, I know he could be sleeping with 10 other girls and here I am thinking I'm special just because he calls me into his office and we talk and make out like I'm an idiot. That's all he wants from me, just someone at work stupid enough to fall for him with who he can pass his time with.
I don't even know if I ever want to talk to him again, what's the point? This isn't going to last why are we forcing it is the real question? What does Nayel see when he thinks of me? Just his dumb assistant he can bang? This is so frustrating, I wish he could tell me what he wants of me, this guessing game is very hard.
