AN// covid tests mentioned !! being unwell, ect.

You walked into the big house, leaning down to let Duke off his leash. The small pup yapped away happily, excited to be home as he ran down the hall towards your bedroom.

As you hung up your keys, Duke's lead and took off your shoes, you couldn't help but notice how quiet the house seemed. Your eyes slowly peered around your home, expecting to see or hear Calum at some point.

After no sign of him, you continued towards your shared bedroom. Worry continued to grow in your stomach; unsure of why the usual vibe of your joint home was so flat.

Walking into the bedroom, you noticed soft music playing, the room completely dark. You could hear harsh breaths, a soft whimper here and there. Quickly, you made a b-line to the bedside table to flick on the lamp. Now the room was somewhat visible, you sat on the edge of the bed, reaching out for Calum's curls. Now noticing Duke sniffing his arms delicately.

"Come on, baby. You're okay," You mumbled softly, reaching down to press a kiss to his head. "M'here now. You're okay." You whispered softly, fingernails softly massaging his scalp. "Talk to me, dove?" You sighed softly, adjusting your position.

"I don't feel well at all, baby." He whimpered, rolling onto his back. Your eyes widened at how flushed his face seemed, now placing the back of your right hand to his forehead.

"You're burning up, baby." You murmured, "Let me get you a test." You spoke, heading to the kitchen.

Quickly fetching a glass of water, some advil and a quick RAT test, you made your way back to the bedroom. "Baby?" You spoke softly, making sure to keep as quiet as humanly possible.

"I have a quick nasal swab and some advil." You spoke softly, tearing open the tests and opening the ibuprofen bottle. "Just so we can rule it out." You mentioned, easing his mind.

Slowly, he sat up, colour draining from his face immediately. "Nice and slow, dove. You've got this." You encouraged with a soft voice, allowing him to do the test himself.

The two of you watched it report back negative. You assumed it was just the flu, but were going to monitor it anyway; just to be safe. "Have some advil, and let's get you into a shower, yeah?" You asked, watching him nod.

You helped peel his muscle singlet tee off his sweaty body, careful of his head to make sure matters didn't become worse. "It could just be a migraine baby, but let's get you comfy and clean." You whispered, kissing his cheek gently.

"I love you," He mumbled, a soft smile tracing his plump, chapped lips. "And I love you," You smiled, brushing your thumb over his left cheekbone.

Once he was showered, dressed and in bed; the ceiling fan on the lowest setting, you went to go make dinner. "Baby, don't go. C'mere." He gestured with his arms open, insinuating he wanted a cuddle.

"My love, I have to get you some dinner. You need fuel for your body to start to feel better." You continued with a soft tone, eyebrows furrowed in worry.

"No, I'm not hungry. I need my girl." He smiled, it didn't quite reach his eyes like you were accustomed to but your heart still swelled.

"Only for a bit, then I'll make dinner, okay?" You smiled, climbing into bed with him, your left hand immediately finding its way to his curls.

"Mmm" He mumbled as your massaged his head lightly.

"Just relax baby, you're okay." You whispered, making sure he was comfortable.

And just like that; Duke, Calum and you had drifted off into a state of bliss.
