Desteen's POV
I waited for Sanzu to come back in our shared office so I could thank him and pay him but he didn't return anymore. He probably had other things to do, so I just went home.
Reon was home early and he was cooking dinner but I could tell he's not in his best mood. I kissed his cheek and sat down on the chair as he arranges the dinner he made in front of me.
"This is exactly why I don't want you to work, no one's gonna cook dinner if we're both tired," he said as he sat down across me
I bit my lip and just started eating, I don't want to take the bait and argue with him again
"I mean, can't you just sit and look pretty for me? What's with you and your need to work, anyway? I can provide for us."
"I'm not a trophy wife, Reon," I calmly said, "I'm a woman of my own."
"All women ever have to do is wait in the house, take care of the children, tch. You guys like complicating things."
I placed my utensils down, "I'm full, I'll head upstairs first."
This is why I don't want to be here. I feel caged, I feel useless. My father couldn't care less as long as the company will have a good partner, but at my expense and I hate him for that.
I took a quick shower and lay on my side of the bed. Reon is probably in his office inside the house, which is good. I don't want to deal with him again.
I took the picture frame beside me, a picture of me and my mom when I achieved a medal from school. She looks so happy and I am too, how I wish I could just stay in that moment forever. I'd love to stay with her instead.
I hugged the picture frame to sleep. I woke up with Reon beside me, since it's still six a.m. I decided to jog for a bit. After changing, I immediately went outside to jog. I'm still not super familiar with the place so I tried my best to not get lost.
I flinched when I passed by an alley and heard a gunshot. My mind's telling me to move and run away but I turned my head instead and saw Sanzu pointing his gun at a man. He then placed it back on his holster and looked at me with a brow shot up.
I looked away and tried to walk away, but I remember something. I went back to him and he is now casually wiping the blood off his hand.
"Ah, thank you for the alarm clock yesterday. How much was it? I'll pay."
He just waved his hand, "no need. Never asked you to."
"But you're not obligated to get me one, so I'll just pay for it," I urged and was about to pull some cash but he looked at me with his cold eyes that sent shivers down my spine
"You wanna pay?" he asked and took a step forward, making me go backward but he held my waist and leaned closer until he's near my ear, "stop pestering me. Stop making me your babysitter. Leave me alone. That's how you can pay me."
