"You what?!" Ran exclaimed while leaning forward. Rindou is just looking at me while leaning on the couch, "I mean, forget the fact that it's an illegal affair, but Sanzu Haruchiyo? Seriously? Rin, knock some senses on her brain!"

Rindou sighed, "do you even know the guy, Kairi? He changes girls like changing his clothes. What if you end up falling for him?"

"Exactly! If you're gonna cheat on your loser husband, at least make it worth while! Come on, Kairi. You've had more than enough share of pain, and now you're playing the devil's game!"

"That's rude," I answered, "we're just seeking comfort from each other."

"That's what I said about Y/N before, and look at me now. The thing is, if you end up falling in love with Haruchiyo and he breaks your heart, I might have to kill a co-worker," Rindou threatened

"Torture him before killing," Ran nodded

"Come on, you are both exaggerating. I can play around without catching feelings, okay? I just.. really need a break. You guys know what I mean."

A break from the heavy reality of my life. A break from a suffocating marriage and a manipulative father. I needed a safe space, a comfort and something I would look forward to at the end of the day.

"I can't say so much about love since I've never fallen in love yet, but please Kairi don't ever think about catching feelings for him!" Ran said and I just nod

This is not really love, right? It's just that when everything gets too suffocating, then of course you would want to have some sense of break. We are each other's sense of comfort from our harsh realities but it doesn't mean we're catching feelings already.

"If Reon will do something to you because of this, forgive me but I might bury him alive. He's given you so much pain and trauma already," Rindou shook his head, "I still haven't forgiven him when you went home two years ago with bruises all over your body while looking so scared."

Oh, that time. That one time I booked a flight to Japan while covered in bruises and wounds because he abused me when I went out to get some coffee with his cousin. Right, how much more now that I'm actually cheating on him?

"I don't really have to worry about Sanzu, because Reon's head would blow up before he could even lay a finger on him but the moment he'll try to lay a finger on you, Desteen Kairi, I will be the one to file your divorce papers. Fuck business partnership, your dad sucks."

I smiled and went to Ran and Rindou and gave them a tight hug. When my mommy died, I never had any other people I consider family, just Ran and Rindou. It felt so lonely when I was abroad because they're the only ones I have but having them here now just feels so good.
