Boyoung pov:
"I'm first in my class. I have a 4.0 GPA. I volunteer three afternoons a week at a local nursing home near my home. Did I mention that I'm student body president?" I said as the admission lady look at me before saying something.
"I'm gonna stop you right there. I'm looking for applicants that are change-makers, risk-takers. Not applicants that just ,like can fill the box. I want an applicant to blow the box up. You now what? This was very fun. Thank you for coming in."
"W-wait this is all I've ever wanted please. You see my dad went here and he died when I was twelve." the lady sighed before asking. "What school do you go to?" "Seoul High school" I said emotionless. "Isn't that the one with the dance team? The one that was on that variety show or something?" she asked.
I didn't know what to say but to impress her so I said "Yes we were." I had no idea why I said that. What am I saying! I said to myself. "I didn't know you were in a dance team!" she says making me nervous.
"Well I'm impressed. Here I thought you were resumes and stuff. I would love to see you at the work it dance competition Boyoung." she says with a smile "You're going?!" I asked surprise. "Of course. I hope to see you there"
*time skip
"What did you talk about?" my mom asked me the moment I got home. "School and stuff" I said tired. "Come on tell me more. Did you tell her that you wanted to go premed?" she asked me. I nodded before she continued. "What else did she say?"
"I vaguely remember her saying, uh that I would make a great addition and to keep up the good work" I said totally lying. "Oh my god. You're a shoo-in!" she says before pulling me into her embrace. Oh shit! I told myself.
So I had to join the dance team. Me. A girl who couldn't find her own heartbeat, let alone a four count. When I was five, my mom enrolled me in a ballet class and I single-handedly ruined our recital. But if there's one thing I'm good at, its studying. I just needed the right teacher.
The next day...
I waited for Eun ji outside the auditorium to inform her of all the shit that I have caused. "Hey!" I said linking our arms together "You need anything?" She ask as we walked towards the cafeteria. "I need you to get me on the dance team."
I said seriously. She laughed and realised that I wasn't kidding. "You don't dance at all. Remember when we had a conversation on flossing and you thought I was talking about oral hygiene?" she said.
"We weren't?" - me
"No we were not" - Eun ji
"Look.. I made the admission lady think that I'm part of the dance team." - me
"W-what?! Why would you do that?" - Eun ji
"I-I don't know! She kept saying that she wanted to shake things up, and it turns out that I'm a boring robot with no personal context, and volunteering doesn't help anything. And they don't want boring people." - me
"Well screw them, all right? Don't go." - Eun ji
"Jas, how are your grades?" - me
"Terrible. You know this' - Eun ji
"Ok, so what if Seoul dance academy wont let you in unless you at least have good grades?" - me
"Probably cry a little then I'll crack some damn books" - Eun ji
"Ok so I have the exact opposite problem. I have the best grades and I need to learn how to dance. Pleas Eun you should've seen the look on my mom face." - me
"Yes ok fine!" she says before I squeeze her into a big hug. Now all I have to do is practice everyday to get on the team.
