Thirty years later in 2030

Verena punched the bag as hard as she could and continued doing it, her punches becoming faster and stronger. She wore a sports bra and workout leggings with her red hair tied back in a ponytail.

She was in the gym located in the headquarters of RAW where she worked along with her family, Varun and Amaya Sharma. She had been working there only for five years and she had quickly risen through the ranks because of her strength, resilience and brains.

Two pairs of hands wrapped around her waist. She stopped, panting slightly and smiled. "Hi Abhay." She said.

He groaned. "Do you have a pair of eyes at the back of your head?" He asked as she turned in his arms to face him. He about a lot taller than her though she herself was the tallest woman in the facility at the height of 5'11.

"Yes. I do." She chuckled and pressed her lips to him. "I always feel comfortable around you so I instantly understand."

He smiled and kissed her cheek. "I love you."

"I love you too."

Abhay Singh had been working in RAW for twelve years. He was the best agent with straight dark hair and light eyes. He was a vampire who could read minds but he failed to read Verena's which drew him to her even more.

"Our one year anniversary is tomorrow but I got you a gift today." He said, handing her a black medium-sized velvet box.

"Aw, thank you. Can I open it now?"

"No. You have to wait till tomorrow."

She pouted. "Fine. But I'll give you your gift today too. I didn't gift wrap but here."

She handed him a ring with a simple metal band and ruby on top of it. Abhay gasped dramatically. "Are you proposing to me?"

She rolled her eyes. "Shut up. Twist it like this." She instructed, twirling it in her palm and it transformed into a long sword with a red stone embedded at the end of the hilt.

His eyes widened in surprise as he took the sword. He twisted it and it quickly turned into a ring again. He looked at her, his eyes glistening.

"This is perfect Ver. Thank you so much!" He slipped the ring on his forefinger and lifted Verena into the air. She laughed as he turned around with her in his arms and set her down.

"Can I open my gift now?"

He shook his head. "No. For the gift to work you have to wait. Please."

"Fine. Are we still up for lunch?"

"I don't think I can make it. I'm on sniper duty today."

"Ugh. It sucks. But fine, see you tomorrow."

Verena sat at the dining table with her parents, Amaya and Varun. They both looked different from her. They had dark hair and dark eyes whereas Verena had red hair and dichromatic eyes. One green and one brown.

Amaya had made Verena's favorite dal makhani with aloo parathas. "This is so good ma." She said.

Amaya smiled. "Glad you liked it. Help yourself." She stated. Though Verena was incredibly toned, she ate a lot and she didn't seem to gain any weight.

"I thought Abhay was supposed to come today for lunch." Varun said.

"Oh he said he was on sniper duty." Verena answered in between bites.

"Sniper duties are the worst." Amaya said. "I remember being with Varun on sniper duty for fourteen hours."

"Yes and we fell in love then."

Verena smiled. "Well My love story is different."

"So, when are you thinking of marrying him?" Amaya asked.

Verena coughed violently, choking on her food. She swallowed it with water. "Ma, come on."

"What? I'm just asking."

"Not anytime soon. We have been together for just a year. I want to be with him longer before I make that tough decision."

"Honey, if you like girls then we will still support you." Varun stated.

Verena chuckled. "Papa, I'm into both but when I think of settling down, I want that with a man but I think its very soon with him."

"Whatever you want. We just want you to be happy." Amaya said. "Its hard finding happiness and love in our line of work without it ending in betrayal or death."

Verena sat at her desk, filling paperwork. She was in her formals and it was right at the end of her shift. Her job was exciting but very draining and sometimes even boring. Her mother called her.

"Is your shift over?" She enquired. Her parents were werewolves but she wasn't one. She herself didn't know what she was. She seemed to have a little bit of everything.

"Almost ma. It will end at one. Why?"

"Nothing. I had thought of making some pulao but I can't find the chilly powder."

Verena chuckled. "Its on the second shelter in second cabinet from the stove."

There was a rustle on the other side. "Oh I got it. Are you sure you're not a vampire?"

"Remember what happened when I tried drinking blood the other day? I threw up."

She chuckled. "That's true. Anyway, work hard. I'll keep a plate ready for you."

"Okay great." She hung up and buried her nose in her work again.

The office had become almost empty with only a few workers still staying. Her father was her boss but her mother had retired since her injury didn't permit her to run long distances. She had become a housewife with occasionally asking her daughter to spar with her. Verena happily obliged but she always went slow as she didn't want to hurt her again.

"Verena." Her father called, approaching her. She stood up and nodded curtly at him. "I have an assignment for you. You can clock out after even if your shift isn't over by that time."

"A last-minute assignment? Sounds fun."

"You are great at causing big scenes. We need a big distraction to postpone the elections so I want you to go to his house and kill him. We have more than enough evidence to prove he has been working with ISIS."

"You got it papa. I won't disappoint you."
