The Bet

Chapter Two

I woke up the next day feeling like Monday was a complete dream. I look at my phone and to my horror, it is indeed Tuesday. That means none of it was a dream. I get dressed and walk outside to see Patton in his car waiting on me with a goofy grin on his face.
I slowly walk up to his car and he ushers me in. I get in and buckle my seatbelt in slowly "Can you be honest with me?" I ask him looking at him with a frown. He smiles and nods. "So, why are you guys being so nice to me? There is surely a reason."
He laughs with the jolliest tone I've ever heard. "I don't know why those idiots are, but being honest I like you. I think you're really cool and would love to be closer." I nod not completely believing the sincerity. He quickly drives to school.
In first period Logan sits beside me. "Would you like to be partners?" He asks looking me up and down.
I think about it for a moment before nodding. "You're good at science?"
He wryly chuckles. "Good? I am going to Harvard for Engineering if that says anything."
I grin getting an evil idea. "I doubt it. This is Biology isn't it?" He frowns and mumbles 'physics' before sighing and completing the assignment without me lifting a finger.
He looks at me once he's finished. "You aren't very smart are you?" I frown and he quickly sits up straight clearing his throat. "That's not what I meant.."
I roll my eyes and walk away to the back and ignore everyone for the rest of the period. I start walking to my next class after the bell and hear hushed talking around the corner, so I listen silently.
It's Parogan talking about me. They start discussing their plan and I frown. Patton's voice chimes in over them. "I mean he seems really nice besides the dark makeup and clothes."
Logan snaps at him. "This man is annoying! I can tell he's using me for my intellect!" He then starts to explain the hour we just spent together.
Roman chimes in. "This one million dollars is going to be mine no problem." He laughs. "This loser can't resist for much longer. Three days tops and I got him."
At this point, I'm fuming and I walk with tears in my eyes to my next hour. I put my head in my arms as people start whispering about me. I don't know why I'm so upset over these three boys. It could be their hurtful words or them betting on me like I'm an object. I don't know, but whatever it is I'm not letting them get away with it without payback.
