It was early in the morning. The sky was back to its usual depressing gray, and the temperature significantly dropped. Amara was sure that she could add hypothermia to the infinite list of things that would probably kill them before they got home.

The horse trotted through the forest, making soft noises every once and a while as it followed the path with all three mutants sitting on its back. Amara glanced behind her, noticing that Suyin was a little squished between her and Peter, but she was safely wrapped in Peter's arms.

The plan wasn't really much of a plan, per se, but as long as she could keep the three of them alive, it was enough to get them out of there. Hopefully.

That was the only thing that mattered.

Once she heard the sounds of the town, she slowed the horse and jumped down. She helped Peter and Suyin after her, and created a muzzle and rope for the horse. Amara watched Peter pick up the other girl and didn't break their gaze, and instead kept a small frown.

They nodded to each other once, and went their separate ways.

Luckily, the horse obeyed her quite well. It followed her gentle tugs even after she turned invisible, and she kept her eye out for the man. It didn't take her long to find him.

After hiding herself behind a tree, Amara used her power to guide the horse all the way up to the man. His grin was wide when he noticed the animal, and when the girl that was with him before appeared, she giggled and pet the horse as well.

Amara made eye contact with the man, and after they gave each other a curt nod, she disappeared once more.

Kahuna-

"No," she whispered, stepping over a log. "You'll listen to me. I'll be the one in control, not you. No funny business. Understood?"

It sighed deeply.

"Understood?"

Yes, Kahuna, It finally muttered. Understood.

"Good."

Can't I just have a little fun?

It was Amara's turn to sigh. "I'll let you know when the time comes. Yes?"

Deal.

She nodded to herself. She had a good feeling about this. This was going to go well.

Amara found Peter and Suyin hiding behind another bush. She crouched next to them and turned herself visible, taking in the same view he was observing.

"Well?" she asked.

"They're unloading a truck," he answered, pointing to a group of Remedy guards. "They had supplies in them. My best guess is they'll be heading back to the base in a few minutes."

Amara's stomach grumbled. Oh, how she missed breakfast at the X-Mansion. So warm, so fresh, so filling. She couldn't wait until breakfast wasn't something she had to dream about.

She quickly thought about the time again. Even though their journey took days to get to the town, she had a feeling going by truck would only take them a few hours. Maybe even less.

"Okay," she murmured. "Let's go."

Peter nodded and glanced down at Suyin. He put his finger over his lips to tell her to keep quiet, and after she nodded in understanding, he picked her up again. Amara slipped her hand into Peter's.

Invisibly, Amara led the three of them through town. She used her power to lift them on top of the truck's trailer, and only minutes later the guards closed up the back door, and started driving the truck away.
