“Because I think of you sometimes”
She fiddled her fingers, as she restlessly shifted her weight from left to right, right to left, left to...
Yeju would be in her room if Jun didn't have to drag her for a double-blind date. Technically, they knew who their dates were. Their campus is gigantic, even Yeju in her third year of college would nevertheless lose her way. Albeit, the popularity of their dates were humongous. Minghao and Mingyu, campus crushes. Whether or not you have a crush on them, everytime you lay your eyes on them, earth would stop moving and everything is in slowmo. Jun was one of them but denies it with his peculiar statements. A peculiar mind creates peculiar ideas and that is why he decided to major in architecture.
Jun's peculiarity is the attraction of many, even Yeju herself. She forgot what their first interaction was that built into a great friendship, but she's certain that the interaction was unusual. Or it was an average interaction. Who knows. Jun probably pulled some strings to get a double-blind date with the campus crushes, or he simply went up and talked to them. Who knows. Jun is a man of surprises as well.
“Yeju, calm down. There's nothing to be nervous about. Just a few more fiddling with your fingers, your fingers would pop off and run away.” Jun chuckled beside her.
“You persuaded me to do this!” Yeju scowled. “My fingers could've been typing away on the keyboard finishing my assignments instead of popping off.” She grumbled, regretting on not declining.
She'd rather listen to Yuju, her roommate, snore throughout her all nighter. Rather than waiting in the campus parking lot admist the shivering autumn breeze waiting for two guys. A campus sweatshirt and a pair of ripped jeans were the sole thing protecting her from the piercing chill.
“Your fault for wearing ripped jeans. Who wears ripped jeans in autumn?”
“I didn't blame you for my choice of clothing.” She rubbed her arms, hoping it'll somehow warm her up. She was aware of her fault for wanting a fashionable look. Well, somehow fashionable. She despised the idea, however she did try to doll up with a lipstick and an eyeliner. Why did I even go? What made me agree to this? I should've asked Yuju to dress me up.
“But who knows this will be it,” Jun's playful voice switched into a sentimental tone. Yeju learnt that whenever Jun switches to a sentimental tone, an epiphany will occur. Yeju admires that side of her best friend. His words would flood and inspire her mind, and mouth empty with words.
“Like, this date will be the beginning of your who knows what. Beginning of your dream, your sorrows, your happiness, your life even,” Jun proceeded. “Anything could be the beginning of something small or big in your life.”
The two best friends gawked at an empty space, thoughts distant from earth.
“Hey!” Minghao called from afar. Jun and Yeju brought their soul back to earth. Meanwhile, the duo emerged out of the shadows, the lamppost defining their sublimely chiseled features and tall perfect figures.
Right. The reason why I agreed to this was because of Mingyu. Yeju huffed out of frustration, for her feelings getting in the way of her decision making.
A beige trench coat hang onto Mingyu's broad shoulder, and a turtleneck wrapped his burly torso. Looks, body, brains and style. It's no surprise that Yeju or the whole campus likes him. Tonights date will determine his personality, and Yeju will be the judge of that.
Mingyu lead the three of them to a car. In comparison to the other cars in the parking lot, his Kia appears pricey. “Hop in.” He motioned his head to the opened door for Yeju. “Don't worry, this car is secondhand. It was a pretty reasonable price.”
“Minghao, you didn't open the door for me,” Jun whined from inside.
“Hyung. You're a hyung to me. You don't need someone younger to open a cardoor,” Minghao retorted. Five minutes has barely passed, the two foreigners were so far bickering like a couple.
“You look prettier up close.” Mingyu stated and slammed the door shut.

“You look prettier up close.”
“Yeju, snap out of it!” Seohyun's finger snap reeled the former out of her pool of thoughts. “A penny for your thoughts? Is it a boy? You've been distracted lately.” A coy look spread across her face.
Seohyun, her friend — as well as her manager and mentor — would never let the topic slip if romance is involve. She's single, and plans to stay single. Hence, Yeju's stories were her lone source of romance. She listens to her like a friend, and she advices her like a manager.
“Just some thoughts...about the past.” The last three words came out nearly inaudible.
“As long as those thoughts can help you publish another book.” She winked. “But still, pay attention to what I'm saying.”
