"There are many dreams beside you"Mingyu wandered the streets of Seoul under the afternoon sun. Children were romping in the playground, their squeals, laughter and innocence amused the wanderer. Group of teens roaring with laughter by the entrance of the arcade, reminding the wanderer about his teens. The world moved quickly around him as he leisurely observed everything.
When he's on his schedule, the world seemed to move steadily whilst he moved hastily - failing to benefit to cherish life. His schedule was empty today, offering him a chance to relax and observe. Although, with Yeju he wouldn't fail to cherish life even if his schedule is pack, she'd remind him or place sticky notes on his belongings to remind him to halt and look around once in a while.
Mingyu wandered and stumbled upon a book cafe radiating a mellow aura luring him to enter. Which he did. The chiming bell, the calming aroma of caffeine and wood, indistinct chatters, and utensils clinking on porcelain dishes welcomed his arrival. An afternoon coffee would sound nice.
He ordered a cup of hot mocha and handed the cash to the barista. "Keep the change." He ascended to the second floor of the cafe, shelves brimmed with books greeted him. People were wordlessly seated on a table with their attention to a book, it was serene. Every now and then, the sound of page being turned would be heard.
Mingyu shuffled around searching for a book title that piques his interest. Right by the new arrivals section, a customer returned a book. Choi Yeju, he spotted those words in the front cover. Instantly after the customer strode away, Mingyu dashed to grab the book. "Us, Again," he read out loud.
Mingyu descended the stairs to the cashier. "Excuse me." He called as the barista walked towards him. "May I buy this book? I don't mind if it's used or anything." He held up Yeju's book.
"I apologize, sir. That book isn't for sale."
"Then, where may I buy it?" Mingyu asked hurriedly while tapping his foot with the beat of his roused heart.
"At the bookshop a few blocks away, at the new arrivals section."
Mingyu exited the book cafe and sprinted to the said bookshop, omitting to take his mocha, despite the barista trying to halt him from exiting. He could've dawdled around, instead he chose to run in a marathon. The buildings and people around him were a blur, the wind pushed his hair back, his heart and stomach twirled repeatedly as he ran to the bookshop. Occasionally, he would stop to take a breather when pausing for the green light.
Before entering the bookshop, he restored some oxygen his body required. He step foot and instantly greeted with air-conditioning cooling him off. "Welcome!" The girl behind the counter piped in his thoughts. Mingyu reciprocated with a slight bow.
"Where are your new arrivals located?"
"Right by the Fiction aisle, sir." The girl's index finger aimed to the hanging sign that states 'Fiction' in a Times New Roman font.
"Thank you."
Mingyu strode to the aisle, heart racing. He surveyed for the name that caused him to sprint around the city solely because of the name. The minute he found it, he picked it up and scanned the book cover with her name on it. A dawning grin emerged behind his black facemask. If he wasn't in public, he would've sobbed his heart out - instead he saved the salty tears for later. He walked to the counter with the book in his hand.
"If I'm not mistaken you're Kim Mingyu, right?" The girl voiced begrudgingly, hoping not to offend the said person.
"Yeah, I am." Mingyu lowered his mask and flashed a grin, before masking it again.
"May I have your autograph?"

Mingyu arrived home, his eyes glancing at the book in his hand, a proud smile fatedly crept up his face.

Mingyu tossed his phone aside. "Hey, when can we start watching the movie? Are you almost fini-" He snapped his attention to the kitchen island where Yeju's located. The girl was sprawled on her laptop snoring soundly. Jumble of words occupied her laptop screen; the black line blinking waiting for a letter to be typed.
"Once Upon an Us," Mingyu read the Google Doc title aloud, a small grin formed.
Yeju's schedule has been crammed lately. Three literature teachers coincidentally got chicken pox all at the same time, having Yeju to substitute the two teachers' classes. Her free time were usually spent on writing a manuscript for her book, however, due to working overtime, she barely got the time to write nor meet her writing buddies. Despite that, her determination stayed to finish her manuscript.
Mingyu gazed at her with adoration and affection, he began to ponder on what he did in his past life to deserve the sleeping beauty sleeping on the sofa-bed. He can't wait to watch her walk the aisle in a snowy dress, slip the ring in her finger and say ‘I do’.
“There's still some dreams I haven't accomplished... Maybe if I publish a book we can get married..." He recollected her words, a tinge of sadness hit him. "...but I know the time will come. I do dream of being with you for a lifetime." Those words brushed his doubts and melancholic thoughts away.
The thought of Yeju going on about plots and stories she thought of in the middle of her day, her face glowing whenever she tells him about her dreams about her meeting with her other writer friends brought a beam on his face.
"I will always be by your side as you accomplish those dreams. The wait is worth as long as you're happy.” Mingyu planted a kiss on her forehead.
