-joanna-

the week went by pretty quickly. it was already nighttime and we were eating dinner in the common hall; some warm soup with vegetables and a choice to drink. i haven't been having any nightmares about that dead body anymore, but i could sense someone watching over me whenever i sleep; like making sure that i was okay. and i was really happy about that. also, mother superior said to us that we will be taking a trip to a museum next saturday to see some paintings.

"are you doing better?"

i looked up to see catharine with my other friend, mariana, taking a seat beside me. mariana was holding a book, which i'm assuming were more horror stories about nineteenth century murders.

"yes. thank you for asking, catharine. how are you, mari?" i asked mariana, the latter being too busy with her nose in that book.

"mari!" yelled catharine, snapping the girl's attention out of the book. she looked bewildered at me.

"oh sorry," mariana says, adjusting her bonnet. "i was reading about a story about a study abroad student who got kidnapped and was held captive at a castle."

"study abroad? where was she from?"

"she was from canada, and was studying psychology," said mariana. "many rumors say that she was held captive for at least nine days with multiple pints of blood taken out of her."

"how did she have pints of blood taken out from her?" i asked.

"her kidnappers were vampires."

i stayed silent throughout the conversation and continued to eat my soup. mariana later explained that the girl escaped, but was confined to a psychiatric hospital; and ended up getting her degree online. poor girl, i hope she's okay.

eleven pm came pretty quickly, so i quickly showered and put on my bed clothes. catharine was sound asleep, so i turned off the light and retired for the night.

as i slept, i heard a soft violin playing, letting me fall into a deeper sleep.
