it was nighttime at the convent, and instead of the nuns going to sleep, they were up past their curfew, keeping an eye out for a sleep deprived nun-in-training who had went missing on their field trip to the museum just a few hours ago. mariana and catharine were in charge of looking for joanna for the night, since they were her two closest friends. catharine look through the binoculars to see her friend, only to see nothing but the pale moonlight illuminating from the mosaic windows.

"i feel like it's my fault for leaving her behind," mariana said, a hint of sadness in her voice. "i hope she's okay."

"she's safe in god's hands, she'll be back around morning time, i promise," catharine replied, looking at the dark sky. "let's pray real quick."

after they had prayed, mariana went back to her shared room with isabelle, her best friend. isabelle was already sound asleep in her bed, so mariana laid down on her bed, looking at the ceiling.

joanna please be safe. she thought.

meanwhile, catharine looked at the empty bed across from the bedroom, the moonlight illuminating from the windows.

protect joanna for me. catharine thought as she fell asleep.
