Soon, Dog Man was walking to the police station. When he got there, he saw a help wanted sign on the door. Dog Man knocked on the door. The cops, including Chief, was still crying, the cop station continuing to flood with tears.
"Hey, Chief, I think somebody is here about the new job," Millie said as she continued to cry.
"Let 'em in, Buster," another cop said.
Another cop named Buster swam in the flood wearing goggles opened the door. Dog Man hung onto the door so he wouldn't be pushed away by the wave of tears.
Once the tears were all out, Dog Man entered the station, walking on the wet floor and passing by many guards. He walked up to Chief, who was holding a photo of Dog Man.
"Why? Why? Why?" Chief cried. Dog Man smiled upon seeing the photo, his dog instincts kicking in. He chomped onto the photo, getting Chief's attention.
"Hey!" Chief said as Dog Man tugged on the photo before trying to pull it away. "Gimme that! You let of that right now!"
The photo was ripped in half. Dog Man and Chief landed on their backs, with Dog Man's helmet falling off. "Hey," Chief said in shock as Dog Man place the helmet back on.
Chris ran over to Dog Man, who pressed his right ear to make meowing sounds. "Is it you?" Chief asked, removing Dog Man's helmet. Upon seeing Dog Man's face, he immediately hugged him.
"But Dog Man, you can't be here," Chief told him with a frown. "If Mayor ever finds out-"
"Hey, Chief, the Mayor is here!" One of the cops informed.
In a panic, Chief placed the helmet back on Dog Man's head and shushed him. Chief whistled innocently as the Mayor entered the station. "Why is it so damp in here?" The Mayor asked.
"Well, uh, you see, we, umm, uhhh..." Chief stammered, not having a excuse for why the floor was wet from the tears of him and the other cops.
"Never mind that," Mayor said before asking. "Have you found a replacement for Dog Man yet?"
"Well, gee whiz, Mayor, we've only-" Chief was about to answer when Mayor interrupted.
"What about him?" Mayor asked upon noticing Dog Man, not recognizing him due to the helmet he wore and the writing on his uniform.
"A cat-headed man would be so perfect," Mayor said. "So clean..so smart, and he has nine lives. We should hire him."
"Well...okay," Chief said after a moment. This meant Dog Man could get his job back, only if people, especially Mayor, didn't know about his disguise.
"I think I have Dog Man's old badge in my pocket," Mayor said. Dog Man smiled once Mayor pulled out his badge. "Here it is."
"Well, look at that, it fits perfectly," Mayor said, placing the badge on Dog Man's uniform. "Congratulations, welcome to the force."
Dog Man shook Mayor's hand, the two and Chief doing salutes. "Hey, I solved another problem," the Mayor said before running out of the station. "I can't wait to go home and tell Mr. Snookums!"
"Oh boy, this is gonna be great," Chief said, giving Dog Man another hug.
Meanwhile, Maddie and Lil' Petey walked with Petey, eating ice cream cones. "How's the gelato?" Petey asked them.
"Good," Maddie and Lil' Petey answered.
"Hey, I started building a new robot this weekend," Petey told the two. "I could really use your guys' help this week."
"We can't," Lil' Petey told him.
"Why not?" Petey asked.
"We're meeting with our comic club this week," Maddie told him.
"Look, robots are more important than comics," Petey told Maddie and Lil' Petey.
"Why?" Lil' Petey asked his usual question.
"Because we need robots for protection," Petey answered.
"Why?"
"Because Grampa might escape from jail again."
"Why?"
"Because he's an evil villain!"
"Why?"
"Because he does terrible things!"
"Why?"
"Because he only cares about himself!"
"Why?"
"Because that's just the way he is!"
"Why?"
"Would you stop that!"
"Why?"
"Because it's irritating!" Petey said, sitting on the grass, a rock behind him.
"Why?"
"Hey, get off of me," Petey said as Lil' Petey climbed onto him.
"Why?"
"Because I don't want you dripping all over me."
"Why?"
"Because I don't wanna be all sticky!"
"I won't drip on you, Papa," Lil' Petey said. "See?"
Lil' Petey licked his ice cream, which unfortunately fell off his cone and into Petey's chest.
"Oh brother..." Maddie said, knowing how stern her friend was.
Meanwhile, at cat jail, Grampa had an evil idea in his head. "I can't believe my good fortune," Grampa said evilly. "This place has everything, including an escape door."
Grampa pushed a button, causing the escape door to open up. "Now I just need one last thing," Grampa said up to himself. He walked up to the ladder and hollered at the hole it led to. "Oh, Snug!"
"Hi, kitty!" Snug greeted, sticking his head out of the hole.
"Hey, can I try on your hat?" Grampa asked.
"Sure," Snug said, removing his helmet and tossing to Grampa. "Here you go, kitty!"
Grampa caught the helmet and placed it on his head. Grampa started appearance. His size changed, he was muscular, and he got two new pairs of arms.
