"The queen is innovative and it is her pride, and the queen cares for herself." The hostess quoted as we are all in the dining area, taking our breakfast. She then entered in a graceful manner, making all of us look at her in attention, "Good morning ladies."
"Good morning hostess."
"This morning, I bring you good news." She started as we looked at her, "There will be two new challenges for you. But this is not like any other challenge, for these two challenges, no ladies will be removed, you need to get the things you need in the market and you are allowed to help your fellow ladies. BUT you have to complete the two challenges in a span of two weeks, otherwise, you have to be removed."
"What are the two challenges hostess?" Mika raised her hand to ask.
"Gown making and hair and make-up." The hostess replied, "This is to prepare you for the ball. Good luck, and I suggest since you'll be making your own gowns, you should start immediately. And for the ball, you need a male partner."
We all nodded. She then asked for further questions and left when none of us were having any concerns. I then looked at Ylode and nodded when she suggested that we should leave to the market after breakfast.
I then took a bath and wore jeans, a sweater, sneakers, placed light make-up and tied my hair in a messy bun, bringing a small bag with money with me as Ylode, Maria and I took a cab and went in the market.
After what seemed like a ten minute ride, we arrived at the market, which was crowded and full of stalls left and right. I saw men and women, even transgenders, roaming in the market, trying to shop or even just do window shopping for the fun of it. I then snapped myself from looking around the market and followed Maria and Ylode in front of me, afraid of getting lost. After looking for 15 minutes, we saw the right stall that sells expensive fabric intended for the gowns. I looked beside me and saw Mika's group on the other stall, 2 stalls away from us. Amalia also looked beside her and saw me, causing her to smile and wave at me, me smiling and waving back.
"Avelon." Ylode called and that was my que of entering the fabric stall. I then smiled at the middle-aged owner of the store who looked at me and Maria.
"Maria Racetop and Avelon Shirley?" She looked at us as we smiled and nodded. She then gasped and took out her phone.
"Oh my God." She exclaimed, "I'm a big fan of The Worth. I'm a very big fan of you, Miss Avelon. I hope the king chooses you."
I smiled weakly, causing Maria to elbow me and mouthed 'pretend you like what she said' as I turned to her. I then looked back at the woman and grinned, chuckling softly.
"Yeah." I smiled, "I hope so too. Maria even hopes the same thing." I smirked as I heard her laugh then turned to me to give a what-the-hell look, causing me to shrug.
"So... you must be here for the upcoming ball." The owner smiled.
"Yes." Maria grinned, "Do you have any fabric for the gown?"
"Yes. Let me show you the most exquisite one." The owner smiled as she lead us to the back part of the store, where she showed us different colors of sparkling fabric, "You see, we labeled them as the exquisite ones because these are the transformable fabric." She then showed us the function of the transformable fabric on the TV, with the woman's gown being transformed into something else. Before I knew it, tears well up in my eyes.
"Mom, come on. Tell us about Betting Night." I whined as mom and dad giggled. For a five year old me and ten year old Quentin, mom and dad were no longer surprised. We ask a hell lot of questions, most of them surrounding mom and dad's life as The Golden Darlings of Pangaea.
