"The heart, has it been returned?" The lady asked pacing agitatedly on the floor of her tower. "I gave it to Cedari, the elder's apprentice, he swore to return it to its former resting place and if you gaze outside you'll see he had done just that," Kalib exclaimed, pointing to the window of the tower. The lady glanced out the window, the snow was gone and it seemed like the trees were once again bearing leaves. "What will you do with the elder? The deeds he had committed can surely not go unpunished?" Kalib asked. "There's no need, you see Kalib shortly after you left the centaur village to go to the old ruins, the elder slit his own throat, no doubt out of guilt. Nevertheless, Cedari will be Keeper now," Gerry smiled. "Cedari, he's a fine man, he'll serve his people with honor," Kalib smiled. "Now Kalib I know there is a lot to talk about but... oooh I'm just too excited! What will your wish be? Keep in mind. I rarely do wishes, for they drain me greatly, so this is a big deal, make it a good one. We'll decide afterwards what to do with our naughty friend here," she sneered looking at the bound scholar in the corner.
"I can wish for anything?" Kalib asked. "Indeed, anything, wealth, power, love, anything. Now come what is your wish?" Gerry extended her hand out
Kalib thought long and hard, absent-mindedly fingering the bracelet on the hilt of his pickaxe. He already had a wish, he had it from the start but he pondered if he should wish for it. Finally, he made his decision. Kalib grabbed Gerry's hand and softly uttered the wish.
Gerry's eyes glowed gold and a great wind swirled around the room. Next to Kalib, a figure appeared, It was hard to see who or what it was for it was engulfed with golden light. Suddenly the light left the figure and next to Kalib stood a boy.
The scholar jumped from his seat, he had a look of great shock on his face. "Colin?" The scholar started shaking profusely, "Is it...is it really you?" He approached his son slowly, not believing his eyes. "Father, where are we?" the boy asked, rather confused. "Colin!" The scholar ran towards his son, his arms still bound. Gerry smiled softly. "You are the softest muscle man I've ever met in my life," she smiled. "I'm not soft, I just tend to be nice every once in a while," Kalib grimaced. "Ooooh you are such a softy," Gerry bumped Kalib with her shoulder, "Why though? What about your wish?" Gerry asked. "He needs his wish more than I need mine," Kalib said sadly. "Are you sure?" Gerry asked, glaring at Kalib. "I'll survive, he won't," Kalib replied. "Thank you misthios, I... I don't know what to say," the scholar looked at Kalib with great appreciation. "Say nothing," said Gerry loudly, " You, my friend, still must be punished. Your deeds are too severe to simply let go." Gerry said with a serious tone. "I understand my lady. I will accept whatever punishment awaits me," the man bowed low.
Gerry remained silent for a while. She then began to speak, "You will become my servant for the rest of your days, your life will be mine, and you shall do whatever I command. I will provide you and your son with lodgings, the boy may stay here as long as he wishes. When he comes of age, he will be allowed to leave, but you however may not.is this understood?" Gerry glared at the man. "Yes my lady I understand, I pledge to be your faithful servant for as long as I live," The scholar bowed. "Good, Grozak!" the lady yelled. Grozak entered the room. "Snort, my lady called?" "Indeed, take these two to the ninth floor, assign them each a room, and tell Azgo he is to relinquish his duties to mister..." Gerry glanced over at the scholar. "Oh, Jerome my lady," the scholar replied. "Yes tell Azgo Jerome will take his place, have him show mister Jerome the ropes," Gerry ordered. "Snort, at once my lady." Grozak, Jerome, and the boy left the room.
"And you have the nerve to call me soft," Kalib smiled. "Oh shut it, I was planning on subjecting the man to years of excruciating torture, but your wish ruined that idea. Can't really bring back a man's son only to lock him away never to see him again," Gerry rolled her eyes. "Anyway, my chunky friend," Gerry poked at Kalib's stomach. "What awaits Kalib, the powerful misthios now?" Gerry grimaced. "I might stay for a couple of days, Grozak claimed he could out-drink me. I can't let the poor bull keep living a lie. Then probably back to the continent, there are wars to be won," Kalib walked to the balcony of the tower, Gerry followed close behind. The two just stood there staring at the magnificent view.
