"You're what?"
Heeseung stayed motionless for a second out of sheer shock.
He couldn't think of a moment in which Ni-ki had mentioned the existence of a girlfriend, let alone alluded to it.
"You literally was flirting with a girl the other time," Heeseung raised the volume of his voice a little.
It wasn't like he felt pained by that discovery but he certainly found it odd that Ni-ki was acting like that. Maybe it's an open relationship?
"I was setting the mood for you," Ni-ki murmured and rolled his eyes as he watched the waves.
"By cheating?"
"I didn't do anything with that girl in the car, man," the younger blew air out of his lips as he leaned back to balance on his elbows.
"That's just shitty," Heeseung murmured. "And what about you and me?"
"You and me? There's no you and me," Ni-ki raised his eyebrow as he dipped his fingers in the sand.
The older one couldn't read his expression and under normal circumstances he wouldn't even dare to say anything about them, their tentative friendship to say at least. Yet now, with the built up anger surging in his veins he wouldn't help but be mad.
"You tried to kiss me," he uttered as he clenched his jaw and turned his head sideways.
"I didn't, though," Ni-ki clicked his tongue as his gaze pierced through the older's jawline. "Plus it's not like I'm gay or anything-"
"No straight guy would ever suggest something like that!"
"Well, I was high..."
"You're just immature and selfish and a cheater apparently!" Heeseung suddenly said, louder than he intended.
"Why are you acting like a fucking bitch right now?" Ni-ki's calm demeanor shifted a little as he frowned. "You sound like a chick, give it a break it."
"You're start things with people, tiptoe between the lines of affinity and flirt and then glaslight them and pull back, I'm not the chick here," Heeseung said to him, his words biting into the younger as he took pleasure in the other's growing anger.
In his hot flash of fury, he didn't want to be the only one feeling like that. Though that feeling of anger, alongside with some others was slowly building up inside inside him in every passing day that the were no calls.
And to his surprise, Ni-ki unexpectedly smiled.
"You were scared that the kiss was some joke, that's why you stopped me?"
"Fucking unbelievable," Heeseung mumbled as he got up.
Ni-ki got up too.
"Come on, I told you I broke up with my girl and instead of doing something about it, you're just yelling at me!"
"Are you serious?" Heeseung pushed him as the other one was trying to approach him.
He felt a coldness within him. Suddenly, the alienation of being the way he is that he endured in his former years, the subtle bullying, the friends he lost over the years and even the disappointed looks from his parents once they heard the reason their son has been made fun for from other students crashed him down.
