Chris

"No" I sternly said looking straight into her eyes.

"What? You said that you would do whatever I asked you?" She narrowed her big doe eyes and glared at me.

"Yes. But I am not going to do this. Never" I replied trying not to show my anger.

"But why? I promised her the money" she argued.

How dare she? Here I am worrying for my married life and  she is worrying about the money to pay for that divorce lawyer.

"Forget about that. You are not getting anything" I argued back.

"But-" she was about to reply when that divorce lawyer piped in and said "It's okay. I understand. You both please don't argue because of me"

"Kate but-" she started but was cut off again by the lawyer, "please krithi, no more" she said in a pained voice and walked out of the office in tears.

Real dedication to work. Damn. The lawyer is crying because she lost a case as I didn't agree for the divorce?
I need such dedicated workers in my office.

"If you are simply going to lie to me, then you should not have promised me in the first place" krithi yelled at me as soon as the lawyer left.

"If I had known what you were going to ask, I would never have agreed. Do you know it's value? It's my life" I stated.

I could give anything in this world except her, and she had to ask me just that. wow.

"Never knew you were this selfish. How can you expect me to live with a person like you? You are a liar, a promise breaker, control freak. How can you be selfish with someone's life. Why can't you think about others for the first time in your life?" She yelled and I stood there dumbstruck, "you know what, I am leaving. It's my fault to think that this marriage would work. It's my mistake to try to mend our relationship" she immediately left the to room, probably left the house and on hearing my car pulling out I know she had left.

Great.

Why should my life be this fu*ked up?

And what does she mean by "mend our relationship"? Is it her way of "mending our relationship" by giving divorce to me?

Atleast I didn't get a divorce. That's good.

For now you are safe. Not a long time my concise mocked me.

I simply walked out and found Thomas sitting on the couch staring at me with a knowing look in his face.

He must have seen plenty of people fighting and separating from each other, this must be nothing new for him.

"Drinks?" he asked.

"That would be truly appreciated" I walked behind him with sulking shoulders. A drink sounds like a heaven to me now with all the shit happening.

"Ice?" he asked as he started walking into the kitchen.

"Yes please" I said even though I am not sure if I would be using it.

The first few minutes of my grieving party was comfortably silent. But that didn't last long enough though.

"You love her a lot it seems?" Thomas said gesturing to the bottles i have drunk. I can feel the alcohol rush through my body and it oddly made me even more sad and worried.
