Y/N POV
I stand staring at the mirror. The black swimsuit clings to my figure, pointing out every insecurity. I notice the faint pink streaks on my things and hips, memories of a darker time. Hot, salty tears spill down my cheeks, and as much as I want to, I can't tear my vision away from my reflection. Suddenly my girlfriend, Niki walks in and wraps her arms around me. She wears a black two- piece bikini, highlighting her beautiful frame. I blush as she buries her face in my neck, our four inch height difference clearly visible.
"You're so pretty, love," she whispers, head still resting on my chest.
"You really are, aren't you," I respond. my arms still wrapped around her.
"No, you are. I know you don't see it, but you are beautiful, Y/N. And I love you so, so much."
Tears form in my eyes as I stare into my reflection, willing myself to see what she sees. But I can't.
"I just don't see it," I whisper.
She follows my line of sight down to my legs, littered with scars, remnants of who I used to be. Her aqua eyes meet my chocolate brown ones as she cups my face, her gentle hand wiping away any stray tears.
"Y/N. Those scars are just a reminder of how strong you are and how far you've come. You are so brave and I love you so much."
Niki lowers to her knees, giggling at my visible confusion. She then kisses each and every scar on my hips, whispering
'I love you' to each one. I blush furiously and wonder how I got so lucky with such an amazing girlfriend.
