Warning: mentions of bombs/explosions

It was horrible, absolutely horrible. It was easily the most terrifying moment in Diane's life. It was the dark, harsh reality that their school lives disguised with blissful ignorance.

Oxford is a very magical town, something muggles never knew, and was filled with magical neighbourhoods. It is the most magically-populated place in Britain after London. The Potter's grand mansion was in the outer parts of Oxford, their wealth allowing them a bigger estate near the woods.

And that is why, on the 28th of July 1977, a massive attack was made all around Oxford. Hundreds of houses, some muggle and others muggleborn houses, were set on fire or bombed, by Death Eaters everyone presumed. The Potter family and their friends felt the earth-shaking explosions even in their far-away estate.

Exactly two minutes after the first bomb, the family started making protective spells surrounding the house. It was for the better that the AlJassim family had left two days prior because everyone would have been in a right panic.

James started  running around trying to go after his dad and help him. Remus had called his mother from the Potter's landline to make sure she know what was going on and that he was safe. Peter was as white as a sheet, drinking the tea Diane made him to stay calm. Sirius was the odd one out, he wasn't scared or worried, he was angry.

"I know it's them. I know it's them, there's no bloody doubt. I can't believe this," he muttered angrily, pacing in the living room. "Fuck, Bella's probably out there cackling and playing arson with her Death Eater friends."

"Language, Sirius!" Mrs Potter still managed to keep calm, even with the grave situation.

"Mum, I'll take Sirius out to help me with casting the protection spells, okay?" Diane said pointedly, and her mother understood her just fine. Diane dragged Sirius outside, feet making sounds on the wet grass.

It was cold and humid, and the wind swished both of their hair around. The many fires inside the town could be seen from where they were, and it looked too much like a doomsday. There were smoke clouds all over the city, and if Diane squinted, she could see at least three green dark marks floating ominously over the town.

"I don't think you're safe being outside, Lynx," he whispered as if someone would hear them. His breath made a cloud in the chilly night air.

Diane looked back at him, her hand let go of his and she pulled him close. "Padfoot, you need to calm down, love."

Sirius huffed, "I can't. I feel too anxious. And angry... and ashamed." He wouldn't look at her. But he'd said what he felt, outright; and that made Diane proud.

"Why're you feeling ashamed?" her voice was patient and quiet, filled with care.

He bit at his lip and looked back to the house. "They're my relatives, the fucking—murderers out there, Lynx."
