The Body

Noel's next party was one for the books. 

It started out like every other one. Drinking, smoking, dancing, laughing. Noel and Cody were the stars of the show. Kurtis looked like he was trying to be a member of the euphoria cast. Danny and Drew however, stood against the wall watching the party, sharing a joint. 

"You should eat something," Danny mumbled, glancing at Drew, who was looking quite sickly again. Danny didn't feel to great himself, but he was more worried about Drew. 

Drew sighed and picked up a chip from the counter and popped it in his mouth. He stared Danny down while he chewed. 

"That's good," Danny assured him. It was good he was trying. 

Danny took a moment to scan the crowd. He didn't see Edward anywhere. Hopefully whatever happened between him and Drew was over and Danny wasn't getting played. But Drew wouldn't do that, would he? He glanced at Drew for reassurance, but saw that he was talking to Cody now. Danny strode over to join them.

"What's going on?"

"Acid!" Cody said with a grin, "Here, have a tab."

Danny looked at Drew hesitantly, but Drew popped it in his mouth like it was nothing. He looked numb. Danny frowned and ate his own. 

An hour later, Danny came to in the woods. He was walking upright, but he didn't remember coming out here. He looked around to see Kurtis, Noel, Cody, and Drew walking beside him, laughing. He started laughing too. 

"What are we doing out here?" He asked. 

"We're going to Kurtis Town!" Noel cried, jumping onto Cody's back. His voice sounded weird. 

"I love Kurtis Town!" Said Danny. 

"I can feel myself shrinking," Cody said. 

No one replied. 

Eventually they reached the first fort. Kurtis screamed gleefully and dove into the hut.

"It's like we're real!" He cried. Cody giggled and grabbed a stick, beginning to poke Noel with it. Noel shrieked and started sprinting into the brush. Cody chased after him into the dark. 

Drew laughed and sat next to the old fire pit. Danny sat beside him, and felt himself wrap an arm around Drew without thinking. It's like he suddenly had all the confidence in the world, like he was watching himself on TV and he was someone completely different. 

Drew giggled and kissed Danny. It was sweet and good. His lips were cold though. 

Suddenly a scream came from the woods. 

Kurtis, Danny, and Drew ran in the direction of the outcry to find Noel and Cody standing stark still, holding hands and sobbing. This was peculiar behavior for them. 

"What's going on?" Danny asked. Cody just pointed.

Edward's body lay on the forest floor, a huge gash in his neck. It was like something had taken a bite out of him. The worst part, though, was that there was no dried blood. None at all. The gash itself looked particularly dry; you could see the muscle. 

Kurtis puked. 

Danny felt frozen with fear. He glanced at Drew for support, but Drew was staring at the body, horrified.
