When the bell rings we get out from our classes. The day has come to an end and I still didn't get to talk to Siddharth. But now I doubt if I want to. With the way he behaved with me earlier and then the girls' little ted talk, I want to think about us again. Maybe it will help me make up my mind about what I really want.
As the seven of us reach the main gates of our school someone holds my hand.
Siddharth stands there and looks at me pleadingly, saying "Can we talk in private?"
I look back at my friends and Anushka gives me a stink eye, warning me not to go with him.
"Please, I won't take much time. Just two minutes." He requests me giving my hand a light squeeze.
"I'll be right back, wait for me outside." I tell them without looking and motion him to lead me.
He leads me to the girls washroom. Anytime of the day this portion and the adjacent area is jam-packed with students bunking their classes, fooling around, romancing and what not. But now it is empty.
"You know it's the girls washroom. Why did you bring me here?" I turn and ask him.
"Because you are a girl." He says casually.
"I'm serious, you could have brought me to the boys washroom. Girls are always more prone to gossip. If someone sees us here right now, that too alone, it will be the headline of tomorrow's school newspaper." I roll my eyes stating the fact.
He stares at me for some time and then comes near me. Lifting his right hand he brushes his knuckles against my left cheek. "Because I don't want the boys to look at what's mine." He says.
I look at him not saying anything. He then looks down and sighs. He looks back up at me and says, "Look, I'm sorry for what I did this morning. I really am. I should not have behaved that way with you. I don't know what came over me. I just couldn't control myself. You are so irresistible."
"So, it's all my fault then?" I question him narrowing my eyes.
"No no no, I never said that. It was my fault. But I promise, it will be the last time." He says sincerely.
"Good, since there won't be a second time." I warn him.
"Are we fine then?" He asks me hesitantly.
"I need some time...to figure everything out." I declare.
"You are not breaking up, are you?" His eyes go wide hearing me.
"Not a break-up, just a small break to sort this out." I explain to him.
"Oh okay. As long as you don't leave me...I can manage." He breathes out a sigh of relief. "But we will still be on talking terms, right?"
