I can hear Ryan calling me from behind as I leave the party but I do not turn back or stop for him to catch up with me.
When I stop at the gates I look around and see no one. What did I expect anyway? It is nine fifty and I have to reach home in ten minutes if I do not want to get scolded by Mumma.
I remember that I told Mum one of the girls will give me a ride home. But I forgot to tell them and left the party in a hurry. I will never go back there. I can not face him again. I also declined Mumma's offer when she asked me to ride with Junaid Bhai.
As I am waiting for a cab or something Ryan comes and stands beside me. I try my hardest to ignore him but how can you? When there is this fine piece of art standing beside. The height difference we have is more prominent like this.
"Why did you leave?" He initiates the conversation.
"I was feeling suffocated in there." I say.
"As you would." I look at him questioningly and he turns to me, meeting my gaze.
"Parties like this are not for you. You should not have come here in the first place."
"Excuse me? You are not my father to comment on that." What he is saying is ridiculous.
"Does your mother know about this? You attending a party of this sort? With drinks and and a bunch of horny teenagers roaming around." His eyes narrow at me, demanding an answer.
"Of course, she does. I never lie to my parents." I defend myself.
"I know." He says. "Who is your ride?" He asks.
"I do not know." I mumble.
"What? You are standing on the street at nine fifty p.m., that too alone and you are saying that you do not have a ride home? Have you gone mad woman?" He yells.
"Why do you care? It is none your concern. I will manage something." Saying this I fish out my cell phone from my clutch and dial Junaid Bhai's number hesitantly. He picks up on the first ring.
"Junaid Bhai, are you free now? Can you pick me up please?" I wait for his reply.
"I am always free for you." He whispers but I hear that, making me cringe. "Where are you?" He asks.
"At Priya's house."
"Your friend Priya?"
"Yes" I sigh.
"I am coming." I hear him shuffling on the other end and then he cuts the call.
"Who was that?" Ryan asks gesturing towards my phone. I do not answer him.
He snatches the phone from my hand forcefully and as soon as he sees the caller ID his grip on my phone tightens, nostrils flaring in anger.
