Rule Fifty One

Gibbs saw the text message from Addy and his heart sank even more.

First Abby had found the link between him and the murder of Pedro Hernandez while she was in Mexico.

Now agent Macy was dead. Murdered by whoever was trying to make his life a living hell by bringing the past to the surface.

Macy had helped cover the killing up. Someone wanted him to suffer.

Pressing the quick dial he waited for her to answer.

"Addy listen. Agent Macy from LA is dead." His tone softened as he stepped a bit further from the crime scene. "Something bad is probably going to happen. I'm sorry." With a breath of sadness he hung up.

His words replayed over in her head for several moments while she sat there stunned. Immediately calling Tobias as she walked out of the house.

"Hey Addy."

"Tobias I need help. I think Jethro's in trouble and.."

"Say no more what do you need?"

"Agent Macy. LA office. Whatever her connection to him is. Their past cases or anything. I'm heading to speak to Vance now. I've got a bad feeling."

"I'll let you know. Stay safe."

She walked into NCIS quickly. Ignoring the looks from Tony at his desk who Immediately went to Mcgee whispering. Going up to the directors office she didn't bother knocking. Vance looked over with a hint of a smirk.

"You act just like him. Never knock. Have a seat Agent Williamson." He gestured to the chair in front of his desk. With an irritated huff she sat down.

"Leon what the hell is going on?" Seeing his expression falter ever so slightly as his tone changed.

"How much has Agent Gibbs /divulged/ with you about his past?" She took the hint. As if saying it out loud was some sort of taboo.

"Enough. Does this have to do with it?" He nodded and handed her a file.

"Miss Scuito was sent to Mexico for a seminar on forensics. In doing so some new evidence in a cold case came forward. Concerning the murder of a Pedro Hernandez." Opening the file she saw the pictures as well as a newspaper clipping. Shutting the folder immediately she met his gaze.

"So what does this have to do with Gibbs?"

"That remains to be seen. But I have faith he can handle his own Adeline. You should too." His words made her grit her teeth.

"He shouldn't have to handle it alone." With that she stood up and stormed out. Retreating to a corner as her cell rang.

"Hello?"

"It's me." Tobias spoke in a hushed tone.

"What do you got?"

"Apparently Macy worked with Gibbs in Pendleton. She was a MP while he was a gunnery Sergeant. "

"The same time--"

"His wife and daughter were killed. Yeah."

"Okay. Thanks Tobias. " Hanging up she walked out and ran into Jethro. Seeing his surprised expression made her laugh a bit.

"What are you doing here?" He questioned with a slight frown.

"I was worried Jethro. After that phone call what else am I supposed to do?" She returned the frown.

"Rule forty. If it seems like someone is out to get you, they are. And it seems.."

"Someones out to get you now." She muttered glancing around seeing they were alone for the moment. "Jethro whatever it is let me help.."
