Falling Apart

Chapter 2

**FLASHBACK**

"Come get me then" I giggled and started to run in the direction of the grass "I'm going to get you" a little boy shouted behind me. I continued to run toward the field looking back constantly.  The boy who was chasing me was my best friend Charlie Lenehan.  I had grown up with him and as a matter of fact he was born 3 days before me.  For as long as I remember, we had always been the best of buddies and sometimes people got us confused as brother and sister. We remained close right up until we were 13.

It was an October day, a week before our birthday's and he came round. His mum Karen and my mum Johanna were also best of friends and often shared their gossip over a cup of tea on a weekly basis, but this meant me and Charlie got more time together. Sometimes we sat in my bedroom listening to music or we would sit on the park swinging on the swings. I saw him as my brother. Then one day on a cold October evening, after school we sat in the summer house at the bottom of our garden and Charlie had a weird tone in his voice. I continued to ask him what was wrong but he refused to answer and shook it off claiming he was okay. In an attempt to lift his mood I switched on my old karaoke machine and put on our favourite song, Wannabe By the Spice Girls. Very girly for a boy but he had a girly streak in him.

We pranced and danced around the summer house busting out our moves and singing before falling onto the little couch in a fit of laughter.  We continued to laugh before Karen popped her head round the door and gave us a stern look. "Charlie were going in a second okay? Say your goodbyes" She gave him a sad look before closing the door and heading back toward the kitchen. I was confused and asked "What does she mean your goodbyes?" I asked puzzled. "Goodbye's always mean sad times right?" I questioned him. "She means goodnight" Charlie responded. He swallowed as if there was a lump in this throat.

I opened the door and gestured him to come out with me. We walked back toward the house before saying our goodnight's. "Goodnight" I said. "Night" He responded, before walking away. That was the last I heard. He disappeared, And by disappeared I mean moved back to Bristol. All contact between us was lost.. I lost everything: my brother, my bestfriend and more importantly my soul mate..

**FLASHBACK OVER**

"Katie green?.." He asked. I wasn't sure how to respond. I thought the girls were messing around when they said he was here. I looked up again just to clarify. "Charlie Lehenan. Is that you?" I asked shaken up. Melissa and Sophi stood staring, before chirping in "Awe! Best friend's are back!" I looked up at him and smilled "You bet it's me:)" He replied smiling. He held his hand out for me to hold onto for help. I took his hand and got up. I brushed down my skirt. Without thinking I hugged Charlie. He stumbled back a bit before placing his hands around my waist. We must of been hugging for a while because Melissa pipped up and said "Come on, im getting bored here. I need a drink and im getting hungry." she yawned hinting at us to hurry up. We had so much to catch up on and none of us knew where to start. I was so shocked at reuniting with my bestfriend I didn't know what to say. "I have to go. Hitting the studio with Leondre. Going to do some writing" he explained. I was confused and the it clicked. He always wanted to be a singer. I didn't know who leondre was but I guess it could of been his friend from when he moved.  "Oh, let me take your number then? We can still talk then?" I asked. "Sure" he responded. We exchanged numbers and said our goodbye's. I headed back toward Melissa and sophi.  "Well, that was eventful. But my bum's sore from falling over" I said.  We all fell about laughing.

We walked toward Starbucks. "What do you fancy?" Melissa questioned. I looked at the menu before getting out my purse. " I'm going to get a White Chocolate Mocha I think" I responded. " I'm going to be boring and just get a plain mocha" Melissa said. "Guys can I get help here?" Sophi squeeled. We had been so transfixed on the menu that we forgot about sophi.  We turned around to find her with her legs in the air, hanging out of the bin laughing. We instantly ran over to help her, lifting her legs up first and then her arms. We brushed the dirt away from her, before asking "What the heck happened to you?". She looked at us before explaining that she dropped her phone inside whilst searching for a table. We burst out laughing before joining the queue once again to order our drinks. We reached the desk and when ordering our drinks, Melissa blushed. Me and Sophi clicked on almost instantly.  Melissa thought the guy who was serving her was good looking. I couldn't help but laugh. I paied for my drink and walked over toward a table.  I unlocked my phone and felt myself texting a number I had recently saved into my phone.

K: Hey, is this lenehan?

C: Depends, is this green?

K: Why of course it it ;)

C: Well then this is Lenehan. How are you green?X
K: Well Lenehan I'm fine thank you and yourself?
C: Not to bad green.

Of course I was smiling like an idiot. I was so fixed on making sure I texted the right thing I forgot that I was sat in starbucks with my two bestfriends. "Katie Louise Green? Are you there? Hello?" Soph shouted at me. I suddenly snapped back into real life. "Whats wrong?" I asked. "Nothing. You were just smiling like a 5 year old on Christmas day when they get the Barbie doll they've been desperate for" She replied. "Bet she was talking to Charlie" Melissa added. " No I was not. And anyway so what?" I said. But that was when I realised. I had a crush on him..
