A haiku is a short form of poetries. And when we are celebrating cultures in this new year, haiku is one of the best ways to celebrate Japanese literary cultures.
It’s a poetry that contains three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables.

A haiku usually features the elements of nature, giving an imagery of the beauty of our world. It shows us the significance of the words and how it can give us an observance with such a small amount of words. Haiku is a beautiful form of poetry that you can write in a short time.

And that is why we challenge you to write a haiku. And that is our activity of the day. Share your haikus in the comments and join us for this celebration.

   Example:

The Old Pond” by Matsuo Bashō

An old silent pond
A frog jumps into the pond—
Splash! Silence again.
