I peel back the seal and pull out the contents of the envelope. I'm surprised to find a small metal disc inside it. Not sure what to do with it I examine it and yelp in surprise as a large screen pops up from the disc. I drop it, startled, as a loud voice comes onto the disc's speaker, "I AM HERE! To tell you about your exam results!" Allmight appears on screen, his usual blinding smile fixed on his face. Upon his appearance a few of the others surrounding me made noises of irritation and distaste. I ignored them and turn my attention back to the holographic screen as Allmight continues his speech. "As you know the exams produced results based on points earned in certain criterias chosen by the judges. Mainly based on overall performance, skill, and overall traits of what the judges deem 'a hero in the making.' " He pauses as a hand hands him some papers from offscreen. He takes them, thanks them, and then clears his throat, "Now for your exam results...." I hold my breath, silently praying that I passed. "On the written exam...100 points! Full credit, something not seen in a few years at UA, absolutely outstanding! As for the physical exam...." I anxiously look over to see my father's expression but have no luck, his face as stiff and emotionless as usual. "80 points! Great job future hero! YOU MADE IT INTO THE UA HERO COURSE!!!" I released the breath that I had been holding, standing there in shock as everyone around me began to clap loudly. I'm still standing there in shock as Allmight finishes the last part of his speech, "I look forward to seeing you in class young Akira." And with that the recording disappears and I come out of my state of shock, blinking repeatedly to make sure I'm not dreaming. A firm hand grips my right shoulder and I look up to see my father looking at me in approval. The rest of my father's henchmen are busy discussing excitedly about the future of the business and the future for all villains alike now that our plan is fully set into motion. "Well done Akira, you did good." I beam in pride at my father's words and turn to fully face him. He looks away and clears his throat, "I suppose since you have done so well you deserve a night off from training. You're free to do what you wish to celebrate your achievement." He gives me a small smile, the first time my father has really ever smiled at me or given me praise, and I am stunned. "W-wait really?!" I say a little too excitedly. I clear my throat and regain my composure, "I mean thank you father." Haru runs up to us and pouts, "How come Kira gets a break from training? Can't I go with them father? Pleaseeeeee?" My father sighs and pinches the bridge of his nose in exasperation, "We've been over this Haru, you need to be consistent with your training if you ever expect to master your quirk and go on missions like Akira. Once you start your fist mission then you can get time off occasionally as well. Akira worked very hard, they deserve it. Now run along before you're late to your training session." Haru looks down sadly at the ground, digging his foot into the linoleum floor. "Yes father." He replies, before heading off obediently towards the training hall. As I watch him walk away I frown, feeling bad for him. He's still a kid and yet my father works him to the bone with training sessions. He deserves more than this, he should be out there having fun, not taking on the quirk training for an adult. "Well I will be off to my study now, I shall see you off tomorrow morning. You're free to go Akira." Even as my father closes his office door I'm still standing there not sure what I should do. I've never really had time to myself to do whatever I wanted. I begin to hesitantly walk in the direction of my room, watching as the others begin to disperse as well, walking back to their appointed positions. When I entered my room I Immediately hopped into the shower, washing off the sweat and grim from the exam earlier. I sigh happily as I exit the shower, feeling much better. I hum as I pull out some black leggings and a pastel blue hoodie, putting my hair up as well. Before leaving I quickly grab my wallet and a pocket knife that I shove into my combat boots just in case. I enter the elevator that leads to the exit of the headquarters, tapping my foot as it transports me upwards. The door makes a "ding!" sound and the metal doors slide open. I smile at the guard at the door as I approach him, "Hey Satō! How's it going?" He smiles back at me as he takes out the keycards to unlock the many security measures put in place, already sliding them on the keypads to let me out. "Not bad! A little boring standing up here all day but y'know how it is." I laugh, "I guess I'll have to come visit more often then, maybe bring you a coffee?" He gives me a small smile as he finally finishes unlocking the exit. "That would be nice, have a good night out Akira." "Thanks Satō! You too!" I call back, already making my way up the stairs and out the doors of the warehouse that we had turned into our new hideout. I briefly give a quick look around making sure no one noticed me leaving the warehouse. Seeing as no one else appeared to be around I left, satisfied. It was cool but comfortable out, a light mist hanging in the air. I closed my eyes and tilted my head up towards the sky for a bit, enjoying the feeling of the moist air on the small patches of scales on my face. I continued down the street, making my way to a corner store not too far off from where I was. I was in need of some new snacks, a guilty pleasure that I made sure to hide from my father who would absolutely lose it if he found out I was eating high calorie foods. The door made a small dinging sound as I entered. I greeted the kind store owner who was an older man who seemed to have run this corner store for quite some time. Or at least for as long as I had been coming here as far as I was aware. I began to browse the many shelves in the store, searching for my favorite snacks, mochi and pocky. I was so busy looking that I was oblivious to the sound of people entering the store, and even one of them walking up behind me. "Hey! You're that person with the voice projecting quirk from the exam, aren't you?" I jumped, a box of pocky that I had grabbed from the shelf earlier falling out of my hands. I didn't even notice it fall though because I was shocked at who had spoken. It was that blonde with the striking eyes that I had helped at the exam. "U-Um yeah I am. And also my quirk is called Siren Song, not 'Voice projection.'" He laughed, rubbing the back of his neck. "My bad, sorry! Also let me help you with that-" Before I could object he was already picking up the boxes of pocky and handing them back to me. "Thanks..." I mumbled. He leaned against the shelf to his right, looking right at me which felt slightly weird but I ignored it and went back to looking at the shelves. "So what brings you here so late at night?" I scoffed at his strange question and persistence with starting a conversation with me. "I could ask you the same." I replied, not making eye contact with him and instead inspecting the nutrition facts label on a ramen packet. After a bit of silence I look back over at him, he was still leaning there staring at me, obviously not willing to leave until I actually talked to him. I sighed realizing it was pointless to ignore him because he was obviously not going to give this up. "Just on a late night snack run, you?" "Oh I was just-" Before he could finish, a guy with long black hair and...were those tape dispensers on his elbows?, runs up to us not noticing me at first, obviously focused on the blonde. "Oh Kaminari there you are. Hey I got the chips, we can go now if yo-" He finally realizes I'm standing there and that he may have interrupted something. "Oh sorry- I didn't know you had made a new friend Kaminari? Trying to keep them all to yourself are ya?" The friend of who I now know as "Kaminari" reaches out his hand for me to shake. I hesitantly shake it, not wanting to be rude. "The name's Sero, and this flirtatious idiot here is Kaminari, I hope he wasn't giving you any trouble." Sero chuckles on the last part but I just look at him confused. "Flir-?" I go to ask but Kaminari quickly cuts me off, obviously embarrassed, "Soooo did you make it into UA?" I nod, and both Kaminari and Sero smile at me. "So did we! We were actually just heading back to Sero's house to celebrate with some of the others who also made it in? Maybe you'd want to come? Meet some of your future classmates and make some new friends?" Kaminari asks excitedly. I smile apologetically as I reply, "I'd love to but I really have to get home, curfew and what not. Y'know, parent stuff." Kaminari's smile drops a bit but he quickly pulls back his bright smile from before. "Hey that's ok! We'll be seeing you in class tomorrow anyways. Plenty of time to make friends and talk then, right?" Sero taps on Kaminari's shoulder as he looks at his phone. "Hey Kaminari I hate to cut this conversation short but we really should be getting back, Mina's spamming me and complaining that we've been out too long." Kaminari sighs and nods. He then looks back at me and smiles, "Well I guess I will be seeing you around, mystery person." I realized I had forgotten to tell him my name as well but it it was too late anyways. I watched as him and Sero exited the store, apparently having already purchased their items before hand. I went up to the counter and made my purchases, walking home with a bag of snacks in hand. Lost in thought I made my way back to my room and looked down at the bottom bunk to see Haru already fast asleep, probably exhausted after training. I smiled softly and walked over to pull the blanket up over him before taking off my boots and climbing up onto my bed. I stared up at the ceiling lost in thought about what the next day would have in store for me. Exhausted, I eventually passed out like Haru and for the first time in a while, had a dreamless sleep.
