Part 7- The Test

Anticipation coursed through my veins as I ,and the others, were anxiously awaiting Aizawa to tell us what the test was as we made our way onto a training field. We all stood next to each other in a straight line, aligning ourselves up on one of the white borders of the training field. Aizawa positions himself in front of us in the center of the field. He folds his hands behind his back before speaking, "This will be a quirk apprehension test that will consist of several exercise activities to show off and exercise your quirks. Keep in mind that whoever has the lowest score after the test will be expelled from UA. So please give it your all."

Everyone begins to talk anxiously to one another, wondering how this was happening. The boy besides me who Ochako had called "Deku '' earlier, was practically shaking and sweating buckets. The more I looked at him the more I realized that he was the boy with the very powerful strength quirk from the entrance exams. 'Interesting...' I averted my attention back to Aizawa as he began to explain the rules of the first exercise. "During this first exercise each of you will have to use your quirks in some way to throw this ball." He says, holding up a tennis ball. "The farther you throw it, the more points you'll be awarded. Now, lets start with Mr. Hanta."

Sero steps up to where Aizawa is positioned and takes the ball from him. He seems to be lost in thought for a bit before finally getting to work. He shoots out some tape from his right elbow, wrapping the other end around the ball. He begins to swing the ball in a circular motion and once it began to pick up enough speed, he released the tape from the dispenser, sending it flying. The ball goes so far that it ends up in the bushes far off from the training field. Sero apologizes repeatedly to Aizawa but Aizawa just waves him off, taking another ball from his pants pocket. I hug my arms tightly across my chest, wondering how I'm going to pull this off. My quirk may be powerful but I'm not sure what use it could have in this exercise. "Hey, are you ok man?" I jumped, startled and turned around to see that Kaminari had snuck up behind me.

He somehow catches sight of the bandages wrapped around my hands and starts to talk again, his eyes fixated on them. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you, you just looked upset earlier and I wanted to ask if everything was ok."

He looks back down at my bandages and I can feel my heart rate picking up. He looks like he's about to ask about them before we hear Aizawa shout his name, "Kaminari, you're up next!" He sighs, "Here goes nothing...I'll catch up with you more later."

I just watch him as he jogs up to the field, quickly accepting the ball from Aizawa. I space out after that, still trying to come up with a plan on how to succeed at this test. Before I know it, Aizawa is calling my name, sending waves of anxiety through my whole body. I make my way to the field, taking the ball into my hands. I stare at it, not sure what I should do. I could maybe shoot a sonic wave blast at it? But that could possibly break the ball. And I'm sure it would be against the rules to put another classmate under my control to do it for me. "Sometime today please Tamaguchi."

Aizawa says with a tired tone. I quickly made the decision to go with the sonic wave blast, it might not work but it's the only idea I have at the moment so I guess it's at least worth a shot. I grip the ball tightly in my right arm and position it as if I was a baseball pitcher. I throw the ball as hard as I can while also releasing a sonic wave at the same time to propel the ball forward. And surprisingly the ball made it pretty far, of course not as far as Sero's or Bakugo's, but hopefully far enough to pass. I run back to the line, pride surging through me. I take my place next to Sero and Kaminari and they both smile at me, patting me on the back to congratulate me.

The next exercise was a 50-meter dash which I was easily able to blow through by distracting the other competitors with my tunes and my overall physical advantage from years of training. I came in second with a guy named Iida with a speed quirk in first. The last six exercises consisted of "Grip Strength" another thing that my years of working out and training really helped with, putting me in third for that one. Then there were also "The Standing Long Jump" which unfortunately didn't do well in; and "Repeated Side Steps." After all of the exercises were completed we were all bent over panting from overworking our quirks. I rubbed my throat, the same soreness from yesterday was returning. We all regained our composure as Aizawa called our attention back to him. "The rankings go as follows, in first place we have Momo Yaorozo, second place; Todoroki Shoto, third place; Tamaguchi Akira, fourth place; Bakugou Katsuki...."
