She held the railings as she walked down the spiral stairs, the silence was rather strange, the house always had some form of noise. She could see Armina, waiting for her at the bottom of the stairs. When she got down, she was greeted by the brunette, who was wearing a long red dress and heels.
"Well well, if it isn't Andromeda Soot herself." said Armina. "Armina Jinx. You wanted to see me?" asked Andromeda, arms crossed. "Yes, I did actually. Come with me." she said. They walked down the silent hallway, not saying a word to each other. As the approached the ballroom, There were loud voices behind the massive wooden doors. Armina pulled on the handle on one door and Andromeda pulled the other. She stood in shock.
There were long gold ribbons on the walls, giant tables, covered in beautiful black and gold tablecloth with all kinds of snacks on top,A huge black banner which read out the words 'Happy birthday Andromeda" in large gold shiny letters. A large black and gold three-tier cake on a round table right in the center sat below it. There was easily a hundred people there, witches, wizards and all kinds of people. Just no humans.
"How did you get this many people here?! And it's a birthday party?! For me?! Who-" she exclaimed. Armina grabbed her by the arm and dragged her to the front of the hall, to where the cake was. She picked up a glass half full of champagne, and a spoon from the table and hit the glass with it as to grab everyone's attention. "Hello everybody, can I get your attention!?" Armina said loudly hitting the glass with the end of the spoon. The room went a bit quiet and everyone looked in her direction "As you all know, today is my fellow witch's birthday, and I hope you all enjoy the party! Let's sing the happy birthday song to her!". Andromeda elbowed her, " Armina! What are you doing?! I'm too old for this!" She hissed.
'Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday dear Andromeda, Happy birthday to you!'Armina pulled out a lighter from her pocket and lit 5 candles on the cake. Andromeda was slightly concerned on why Armina kept a lighter in her pocket. "Make a wish!" said Armina. Not thinking, she wished for the first thing in mind, someone who loved her, And blew out the candles. Everyone clapped. Andromeda shifted her glance away from the cake, and looked in the crowd. She spotted a man, He was abnormally tall, had black hair, and horns and a tail. She couldn't help but stare at him. He was wearing a black suit with a red tie and a black and silver belt. She thought he was rather handsome. And different, in a good way.
"Andromeda- Andromeda-!" said Armina nudging her arm. Andromeda turned away from the man's direction to see Armina handing her a slice of
cake on a small white plate. "Oh, thanks-" said Andromeda taking it from her. "Anyone who wants cake help yourself!" said Armina. Before she realized, Andromeda was in the crowd, looking for that special someone. It was rather easy to spot the man, he was the tallest there. Andromeda tip toed to see over the crowd of people. She spotted a pair of horns, right at the back of the ballroom, next to a table. She walked over to him and stood nearby as to pretend she didn't notice him.
He turned around to grab another glass of wine from the table, then noticed Andromeda standing there. "Oh, hey! I'd never thought I'd meet the great Andromeda Soot in person!" he said. "Oh hey! I didn't see you there," she lied. "I'm Andromeda, Andromeda Soot," she said shaking the man's hand. "I think I knew that," he laughed. "I'm ⎍⋔⏚⍀⏃, " he said. "I've never heard that language before.... but it seems oddly familiar, " she said, curious as to what it meant. "It's Enderian, I'm an Enderman," he said, sipping his wine. "An Enderman? I thought they didn't exist? And your enchanting table language, its great!" She said.
[Note- All the dialogue in chapter 1, 2 and 3 is in enchanting table language]
"Do Endermen have any special powers?" asked Andromeda, leaning on the wall behind her. "Well, I can do this," he said. In a blink of an eye, he was gone. She was confused and looked around, all that was there were glowing purple particles. "He was gone? How? Had he used an extremely advanced spell?" she thought. And before she could speak, he reappeared, those same glowing particles in the air. 'Pretty cool, right?" he laughed. "I- yeah! How did you do that? Us witches have to use complex spells in order to teleport," she said, intrigued. "Well, we're all born with this skill, nothing too special when you're one of my kind," he said. "I'd definitely exchange this skill for the ability to touch water for once,". "You cant touch water?!" she asked, very surprised. "Yep. Can't even drink it. Always wanted to see how it tasted," he said, staring at the wine in his glass. "Well, not too much to miss out on, it's literally tasteless," she laughed. "Really? Well, I've been told its the best thing ever on a hot day," he said. "Well, what can you drink anyway?" she asked, eager to learn more about him. 'Well, I can drink everything else, as long as it isn't a hundred percent water," he said. "Anyway, enough about me, i'd like to learn more about you, Andromeda," he smiled.
They spent the whole night together, talking, even after more than half of the guests had left. They had an undeniable connection, it was strong, stronger than anything Andromeda had ever experienced. There was something about him, he was, different. Out of all the guys she talked to, he was the only one who understood, and she loved that about him. Turns out, he loved her even more. They saw everything they wanted in each other. Turns out she did find the perfect match. It was never meant to be a human.
It was an Enderman.
