Mathew had a total breakdown.
After he wiped away his tears, he strolled back into the classroom. No one noticed him, as they were intent on Crystal.
"I hate these dumb notes!" she was shouting. "My hand hurts from writing!" Mathew looked away as the class nodded. Crystal announced, "You know what? These are pointless anyway. It's just that teacher's dumb notes. She's such a crybaby. Who even needs 'em!"
Mathew was tempted to shout out, "You do! The school uses this exact information to pay for your parties!" But he didn't. What he did do was run out of the room. Again. He felt like a lowly coward, but these people were starting the party. Again. And the noise was traveling to everywhere, and all 930 students of the elementary school joined in.
Mathew stormed back home. He flopped down on his bed, weeping. Crystal was the worst. Kathleen was, too. He wanted Mrs. Carmon back.
It could not have been a worse day for Mathew Ellis.
