As Mathew came back to school the next day, he braced himself for more torture.
Instead, he was blessed with Mrs. Carmon.
"I heard you were the only one being respectful!" she cried as she saw him. Mathew smiled. "Are you okay?" he asked Mrs. Carmon. "I'm fine," she responded. "Totally didn't go crying to my mommy!" Mathew frowned as he remembered what she said yesterday. He decided it would be best to try and forget it.
"I'm glad you're back!" Mathew said. The minute was ruined when the rest of the class came pouring in through the door, screaming: WE WANT PARTY! WE WANT PARTY! WE WANT PARTY! WE WANT PARTY!
They froze as they saw Mrs. Carmon. "NOOOOOOO!" they wailed, Crystal loudest of all. "IT'S NOT FAIR!" Half of them fell on the floor, throwing a tantrum, while their backpacks fell and opened, revealing party supplies instead of school books. Another quarter started throwing desks and chairs around, and the last few threw their party supplies.
"No!" Mrs. Carmon ordered bossily. "Sit down and listen to the class!" Everyone (but Mathew) groaned. They slumped onto their chairs in a bad mood. Mathew shot a gleeful look at Crystal the Stupid. This day was going to be GREAT.
