Denver pictured above:I wake up to screams, loud, horrible ear ringing screams. I look out my window to see a pale older man with a crop and spurs. He isn't just whipping the horse and smacking him but there is blood running down the horses sides from the spurs and white marks on the horses back end. Under the blood and whip marks I see the fear and pain in the horses eyes. He is trying to buck and run away but can't. I want to go help but I'm frozen I can't move my mouth to scream STOP or move my body to help the horse.
I finally wake up to my dog on my bed licking my face. It was just a dream, only a dream? It felt so real like I was really there seeing it all happen. I was sweating and my eyes were watering and mouth dry.
I finally roll out of bed and throw a pair of dark washed jeans and pink plaid flannel shirt with my dark brown cowboy boots. I slowly sneak past my moms room, quickly but silently not wake and walk down the stairs. I go to the kitchen and grab an apple out if the fridge and sneak out of the back door.
I walk down the lawn to on a pebble trail and walk towards fog and dew covered field. I whistle not to loud and not to quite. My cremello painted gelding Denver comes cantering to me. I stand there and he stops right next to me. He nibbles my hair and a grabs the apple and eats it. I coo to him "Good morning Denver.". I pat his neck.
I grab a chunk of his main and swing on to his back. I click by heels in his sides and he starts walking through the field, we walk through the pasture and I open the gate from his back and we exit the pasture. As we approach the barn I hop off Denver's back.
I start walking and he follows me on to the barn. I grab his leather halter with his brass name plate and put it on him. I clip him to the cross ties and grab my grooming tote out of my tack box. I grab a blue curry comb and curry is body and then grab a stiff bristled body brush and brush his body down, until his coat glistens and shines. I go the his stall and put his hay net in there and go to the grain room and get his grain and put it in his feed holder.
I un-clip him from the cross ties and un hook his halter and slide it off his face. I let him walk into his stall and start eating. I exit his stall and shut the gate then exit the barn. I walk back to feed room and grab all the other horses grain and hay nets. I put them in all 12 stalls we have and walk to the pasture and unhook the gate and let all the horses walk back on there own stall and lock the doors behind them. As I walk back down the barn to go to my house I say good morning to each horse and stroke there faces.
I say to them all "I'll be back soon!" and walk to my house.
I'm greeted at the door by my two dogs my Boxer Cora and my German rottweiler Sage. I'm also greeted by the smell of bacon and pancakes.
"Good morning.", my mom smiles at me.
I smile back at her.
"Ready to eat?" My mom asks.
I nod my head yes and she hands me a plate with bacon, pancakes and her home made berry sauce for the pancakes. Could my day get any better!
