((I don't write about noodles enough so this is a story on how Australia managed to get a pet highly venomous snake :)

It was late in 2019, just as things were getting worse. Half of the forest had combusted into bright red, painting the sky dark grey with smoke. Firefighters, paramedics, volunteers and even soldiers had shown up to the scene to get anybody or anything out of the fire before it hit the towns. People were dragging hoses out from the fire trucks, using the ambulances for the firefighters that got too close, or bikers that had been caught in the fire.

Australia had come running out of the trees, stopping just on the edge of the forest to cough his lungs out before rushing back over. He had a towel wrapped around two koala joeys that he'd taken from a burnt mother. He was about to get into one of the volunteer trucks to take them to safety before he had heard something else from the forest behind him.
'Quak quak!'
Something was stuck in the tree.
He sighed, passing the bundle of joeys to one of the other volunteers. "Get them in the truck! Give them water and take them to the nearest clinic!" He said, running back into the forest. Pieces of the gum trees were falling to the ground, setting the grass on fire and making it harder to get there. Australia had managed to get to the tree that the quaking sounds were coming from, looking up to see whatever it was. There was a kookaburra sitting on the branch, half of its wing was covered in soot and embers, the poor things feathers had burnt off so it couldn't fly away. Australia had quickly grabbed a branch on the tree, hoisting himself up.

The forest floor would've been the safest place, the tree was about to topple over from the flames eating at it. He had taken his hat off, scooping the bird into it for safe keeping. He was about to jump back down before he had spotted something in a hole in the tree. A small snakelet, coiled up in the furthest corner. Australia took a look around at the surrounding area before reaching his hand into the hole and grabbing the little snake, tucking it into the pocket on his shirt before jumping down. The poor snakes scales had burnt off, leaving it with bald spots down its body.

Australia rushed back to the safe area, clutching his hand around the wounded kookaburra so it wouldn't try and get away. As soon as he got there, he passed the bird to one of the volunteers, leaning against one of the cars to break into another coughing fit. He looked like he'd rolled around in the dirt with how much ash covered his face. Two of the paramedics had run over to him, helping him up and dragging the man to one of the ambulances. He wanted to go back, to go and get anything else that was stuck in the forest. But of course, before he could pull away, he had fallen to the charred ground, loosing air quickly.

He had blacked out. For an hour or so, he was unconscious on the hospital gurney. The snakelet had poked its head out from his pocket, looking around the ICU. It was a lot cooler than the forest, and much less dangerous looking. The snake looked back up at Australia. He had an oxygen mask strapped to his face, drips sticking into his arms to keep him hydrated. The snake made his way up the mans shirt, flickering it's tongue at him. Australia had slowly woken up, glancing at the snakelet he smiled, scooping it up in his hand. "I don't think your allowed in here little guy" He said, sitting up in the bed and looking down at the snake. It had curled itself around his hand, looking up at him. It was a little king brown, a very dangerous snake. Even though it was young, it could still do damage with a single, bite, but it hadn't even opened its mouth at him. "You look like a little spaghetti noodle don't you...little overcooked noodle, maybe that's what I'll call you" he said. The snake flickered it's tongue at him again, seemingly happy with the name.

And of course, here's a picture of the little man :D
