Running away

"Am I too late, for a miracle?"

Was she too late for a Miracle? 

Was she not part of the Family Madrigal?

Would Anyone look for her if she left?

Would they even Care?

Thoughts swirled in her head as she stood on top of the roof, tears running down her face. Tough these questions ran around in her mind she knew deep down that they were more statements.

She was too late for a miracle.

She wasn't part of the family madrigal.

No one would look for her if she left.

No one will care.

Well except for 2 people but they will be fine.

As she looked far across the mountains, she knew what she had to do.

Mirabel ran to her room and started packing all her stuff, which was not a lot. Skirts, Blouses, her embroidery materials, A picture of her, Camilo, and Antonio, A First Aid Kit, and a bag of money she had collected over the years. Then she sat down at her desk and started writing a letter.

Then the door opened and Camilo came in.

"Hey, Marip - Mirabel what's going on?" Camilo asked seeing the empty room.

Camilo found himself enveloped in a tight hug, which he immediately returned as he tucked his face into Mirabel's neck.

They had both been courting each other secretly since they were 13. Not even Dolores knew.  

"I'm leaving Milo" 

Camilo pulled away and stared at her. "What do you mean," he said searching her face for any hint that this was a joke.

Mirabel reached up and cupped his face. " I promise I will be back, Cariño," She said reaching up and kissing him. 

"But, mi Vida, if something happens to you I wil-" Camilo was silenced by a finger on his lips.

"I will be fine Milo. I love you" She said giving him a quick peck on the lips.

"I love you too mi Mariposita," He said inhaling her sweet honey, Cinnamon, and Apple scent. 

They sneaked into the kitchen and snuck a few Arepas and empanadas into Mirabel's bag, Narrowly avoiding getting caught by Julietta. Camilo walked Mirabel to the front door and gave her a long kiss.

"You sure I can't come ?" Camilo pouted.

"Antonio needs you more Mi Amor. You know how much pressure Abuela will put on him " Mirabel says pulling him in for another kiss. 

" I am gonna miss you "

The next Morning was unusual for everyone.

Everyone woke up later than usual as Mirabel was not there to wake them up. Casita was not clean like usual and Camilo was colder than Ice to everyone, glaring draggers at Abuela. Every one was surprised but had not figured out what was wrong till then end of breakfast.

"Lastly Mirabel, Stay out of the way." Abuela said as she got up from her char. When she did not get a protest like she usually would, Alma turned around to look at Mirabel's seat.

"Where is Mirabel ?" she said looking around at all of them. Everyone just shrugged with the exception of Isabella who just rolled her eyes. When her eyes landed on Camilo, She saw him growling.

" Find her Milo" Abuella says turning around to leave.

" You can't find someone who is gone " Camilo growled out making the whole family to look at him.

"What do you mean gone? " Julietta asked starting to panic.

"She left the Encanto" Camilo said glaring at her. 

"AND YOU JUST LET HER LEAVE?!" Pepa shouted at her son. A large thunder cloud was forming above them all. Everyone but Alma was glaring at him.

" OF COURSE I LET HER! EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU OTHER THAN ANTONIO TREAT HER LIKE TRASH JUST BECAUSE SHE DOES NOT HAVE A FUCKING GIFT!" Camilo screamed.

" But all of us love her" Julietta said weakly.

"Love her? LOVE HER?! On the night she did not get her gift, I , who was a five year old myself, had to comfort her as all of you were too busy worried about a FUCKING CANDLE to worry about your 5 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER! " Camilo was standing up glaring at Julietta and Augustin.

"You two " he said facing at Isabella and Luisa" left her alone in her worst moments. You Luisa was ALWAYS to busy for her while you senorita perfecta became too perfect to see her as anything but a STAIN!" By now Luisa was crying while Isabella was staring down." You have no idea HOW MUCH she cried asking me why ALL of you did not love her like SHE LOVED!" 

"When you were in a bad mood and Papi was not there to calm you down, She always bought out the sun and rainbow in you Mami. But when she was in a bad mood, all you did was SCOFF AT HER AND TOLD HER TO CALM DOWN! HOW COULD YOU BE SO INCONSIDERATE !" Camilo had never screamed at Pepa but it was about time he did.

" Did the person who hears everything not hear Mirabel crying EVERY OTHER DAY under the oak tree? Or did you just not care enough to take 5 MINUTES OF YOUR TIME TO CHECK ON HER?!" Camilo howled at her which made Dolores to cover her ears.

" When we were 13, Mira would have JUMPED OFF THE ROOF it wasn't for Casita alerting me! " A series of gasps went around the room at that. 

" And you know what was her last straw? You all missed her QUINCEANERA !" Everyone looked absolutely flabbergasted.

" Me and Antonio were the only on that remembered. She had a dress ready and had bought her own shoes. She had made matching suits and dresses for ALL of you. I was the one who changed her shoes AND had her first dance, tio!" he said looking at Agustin." She waited for a whole month hoping you would realize and apologize, BUT YOU NEVER DID!" 

" CAMILO MADRIGAL CALM DOWN! "

All eyes turned to Abuela who was also standing up to meet Camilo.

" It's only Mirabel that's run away. She is not that important anyway. If it was our perfect Isabella or strong Luisa then it would have been a problem. Maybe Mirabel running away is a good thing so we don't have to worry about her getting in the way. I was going to look for someone to to get her Married but I guess she missed it" Alma said . 

"Not important. NOT IMPORTANT!" Camilo was shaking with rage." SHE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PERSON IN THIS WHOLE FUCKING ENCANTO!

" From now on we don't talk about Mirabel" Abuela said ignoring him.

"You know what she told me to tell you Señora? " He shifted into Mirabel " Tell Señora Alma that I hate her" He shifted back to himself " I think I do too."

Gasps ran around the table and Julietta looked like she was about to faint. How could they have been so horrible to her mariposa?

Camilo grabbed Antonio and walked into the village.

The rest of the week was filled with major hurricanes and thunderstorms.

My first Encanto fic and just so you know this is a two or three chapter story. If you don't like Mirabel x Camilo then there are lots of other things to read. And yes I completely believe that there will be a ' We don't talk about Mirabel '
