ALEX POV

The brunette girl we met today was on my mind all day. Saying that she surprised me would be an understatement. She not only surprised me but also intrigued me. She is so tiny compared to me but the amount of courage she has in herself is commendable. She looked me in the eyes and approached us even after knowing we are no commoner.

Her giggles were resounding in my ears while I sat in my bed, tired after working the whole day. I took off my coat and loosened my shirt and messed up my perfectly gelled hair by running my hand through it. The first time I saw her was while she walking up confidently to the cell guard. A girl like her walking infront of the prison gate was not an usual sight. I was busy taking in all of her features when I noticed her friend give me a skeptical yet creeped and spooked out look. She nudged the girl and uttered a few things to her making her turn to look at me.

I had never felt self conscious but when she looked at me I felt utterly nervous but I know my blank expression won't give my feelings a way to portrait itself on my face. It never did. I was trained this way. I had an unexplainable urge to take a look in the mirror to see if I looked perfect or not. I expected her to fear me when she saw me but she took me by surprise by smiling and waving at me.

I was surprised but I covered my expression quickly. Even after she caught me gawking at her, I wasn't able to look away from her. My guards gasped audibly making her smile turn into a frown. I wanted to cut their tongues off for making her lose her smile. But could I blame them? No. Never had they seen any girl smile at me without having a motive or the smile being disgustingly 'seductive'. That's what they call it.

The 'other' girls give me looks of apparent 'seduction' but it makes them look like a duck. The way they sway their hips makes them look like a malnutritioned toad walking on its two legs.

I saw her approach someone and that's when I noticed Greyson. She surprised me more by approaching him and they started talking. I felt a surge of anger rush through me as they kept talking and I finally decided to approach them. Greyson explained me whatever they had been talking about for the last minute.

A girl like her was asking him to kidnap and she was ready to pay us. The thought alone is funny. She wants us, the strongest mafias in the world, to kidnap people for her. She keeps surprising me. She looked innocent and I don't know why but the thought of her doing stuff like this enraged me so I spoke up in a tone harsher than I had intended to.

"A little girl like you is paying people to kidnap? Listen we are not some common gangster. We are the freaking mafia. You do not want to mess with people like us. Don't even have a bit of fear in yourself, huh?!" She didn't look scared. Its like she didn't fear me. That's a new thing for me since whenever I raise my voice, even Greyson flinches, occasionally though.

"Hey! I am not a little girl! And I really have no other option right now, so please. I even brought my savings to give you as an advance and I will pay you up in installments, okie?!" She showed me a thumbs up and pressed an envelope into my hands. Her touch surged electric shocks to surge through my veins. My body tensed and her looking me in the eyes with her innocent blue eyes didn't help at all. She kept looking at me without being intimidated but let her hand go once she felt that I wasn't pushing her hand away.

And why would I? I didn't want to admit it but I liked the feel of her hands on mine. I agreed to her without a second thought. Her pleading eyes, her cute pout and her puppy face were like shocks waves through my veins. While we sat back in the car after agreeing to meet up at the Central Happy Home tomorrow, she called us. I raised an eyebrow motioning her to continue. She thanked us. Well that's a first since I never helped anyone and no one genuinely thanked me before her. She turned her back to us and rode off.

My thoughts again wandered of to my chat with Greyson in the car.

FLASHBACK

"Why did you agree to help her, Alex?" Greyson, my right-hand man as well my best friend spoke up after the little bike stunt she pulled.

"I don't know. I just couldn't reject. She is....different." I carefully chose whatever I spoke, knowing his nature. In about two seconds from now, he will start his annoying shit show.

"Different, huh?" He smirked while using a teasing tone. "You couldn't reject a girl? From when did you start paying attention to girls? As far as I know, you have rejected to help even the fairly big mafia groups out there when they need, but you agreed to help a little girl like her so easily. What's up with you huh?" He made sure to keep his smirk up. If possible, the smirk widened with his words.

I couldn't help but think about what he said. I couldn't reject her. Why? I don't pay attention to girls because all they do is try to get in my pants. Those bitches want nothing but pleasure and my money. Like hell would I entertain those bitches. Those girls wear tight clothes and have a cake full of makeup on their faces. Perfect clowns who belong only in a circus show.

She was different.

She wasn't wearing anything revealing or exposing. She was brave. She didn't know who I was, yet she respected me as a person. She didn't want favors from us. She was ready to legit pay us for doing her work. The thought alone makes me laugh. She can't possibly afford to pay us but her gesture caught my attention. Definitely. Her simplicity, fearlessness, behaviour, her deep blue eyes and most importantly - Her smile, enchanted me.

She could ride a motorbike. Impressive. Her hair flew when she went past us and waved at us as if she were a long time friend of ours. My lips quirked up in smile automatically but I hid it before anyone could notice it. Greyson smiled and I was surprised to see him smiling genuinely out of curiosity and amusement. I felt a rush of anger seeing him eye her up. I cleared up my throat to get his attention.

He turned to me and raised an eyebrow in confusion. I kept my cold face unhindered on my face and spoke in my classic cold and deep voice.

"Now if you are done gawking at them, we need to focus on the real problems we are facing right now. The leader of Valor, despite them being one of the local gangs, dares to go up against us. We need to put him in place if needed. Till then keep an eye on them. And be careful from next time. We can't waste time being caught up in prison for even 12 hours. Time is essential for us."

"Ugh! Those morons! Don't worry I will keep a check on them. And its not my fault that a stupid woman decided to walk by when we were kidnapping that shithead of a traitor in our group. And damn!! That woman was a sprinter I guess. She ran like a bullet train and went straight into the Police station. But anyways, this won't happen again. You have my word." Greyson explained his part of the story.

"Fine." I started checking my emails but whenever I heard the sound of a motorbike I looked up in hope to see that girl again. Ugh! She is stuck in my mind from the first meeting itself. Greyson seemed to notice my behaviour.

"Looking for her I guess. She looks innocent yet hot, don't you think?" He smirked. My blood boiled when he called her 'hot'. Well she is hot. That's not something I would tryna deny but I didn't like the thought of some other guy speak about her in that way.

"Focus on your damn work, Williams. Get me the information about the leader of Valor and also that girl." I said in my ice cold voice and didn't speak further after he gave me a curt nod with another smirk. I was soon distracted by the loads of work I had to get done by today but she didn't leave my mind yet.

I am The Alex Marino. What happened to me? Why is a little girl like her affecting me?
