Peter promised to pick them up at 10:00. Until then they were left to their own devices. "We have got to get out of this place," Scarlett said as she hung her head over the side of the bed, watching Ollie spin around in the desk chair. It made her wanna hurl. "Let's go shopping," Ollie said. "I already told you I can't take my car- I can't deal with my mom today," She said as she sat up and felt the blood pool back down from her head. "Let's just go to the drug store like we used to do," Ollie turned around in the swivel chair. "And what? Load up on junk food?" Scarlett said, turning around towards Ollie. "Yes- are you really objecting?" She smiled and sighed.
They climbed through her window and onto the roof. "It's quiet," Scarlett said as they made their way to the tree. "It always is," Ollie replied as they both climbed down. They started down the sidewalk. White flurries began to descend from the gray skies. "I shou;d've grabbed my gloves-" Scarlett said as she shoved her hands in her jacket pocket. "I should've grabbed  my money," Ollie said. "You don't have any money?" Scarlett said. "Honey- you don't need money to go shopping." Scarlett laughed and put her arm around Ollie.
The drug store was large, a police officer was placed in front, she didn't really do anything, except talk to the customers about what was going on in town, all the gossip. Ollie pulled Scarlett aside into an alleyway right next to the drug store. "Listen- you are going to go up to the counter and start a conversation with the clerk while I swipe us everything we need-" Ollie said. "Ollie this is crazy there's a police officer right there-" Scarlett looked in the direction of the store. "Oh please she's not going to do anything," Ollie smiled. He took her by the hand and dragged her along into the store. Ollie nodded at the police officer near the desk as he let go of Scarlett's hand. He made his way into aisle 4. Scarlett went promptly to the desk. The old clerk was anything but stealthy.
"May I help you with something miss?" He said blandly. "I need to pick up a prescription for Scarlett,"Scarlett said off the top of her head. She saw Ollie in the reflection of a 50 cent hand mirror for sail on the counter. He slipped a pack of gummy bears into his jacket pocket and continued down the aisle. "Date of birth," The clerk said more as a statement less than a question. "Um- 4/22/05" She said, trying not to make eye contact. The man began typing it into the computer. She checked the mirror again. Ollie wasn't in sight. He had made his way to the cosmetics aisle. He pocketed a small eyeshadow compact, a tube of clear lip gloss, and a tube of mascara. "It looks like we don't have you in our system-are you sure this is the right pharmacy?" The clerk asked. "Um- what pharmacy is this again?" She asked with a smile. "Kens- it says it on the sign..."
"Oh- uh I must have missed it..." The man looked at her suspiciously, the police officer looked up from the magazine she was reading. "Say miss- where are your parents?" He asked, leaning over the counter towards her. "I should really be going, my mom's waiting outside." She said as she backed away. Ollie rushed down the aisle. Ollie took her by the hand. "We really should be going- your mom really needs the prescription..." He led her towards the door. As they began to exit the beepers went off in the store. "Run!" Ollie yelled as they burst through the door. The cold hit them hard as they ran, Scarletts hair flew wild through the wind chill. She turned around to see the police officer after them.
"Stop right there!"
"Come on!" Ollie screamed as they ducked in between Duckey's bait story and Ribbons hair salon. They ran and ran until there was no more running left to have. Ollie led the way as they spotted a hole in a chain link fence. Sliding under it, Scarlett grunted as the fence caught her jeans at the hem. Ollie grabbed her hand and helped her up on the other side. Scarlett turned around, whipping her dark hair into her face. The officer was nowhere to be found. "I think we lost her." They were in the parking lot of the dilapidated abandoned church everybody went to to have their first kiss. The church stood as a symbol for the town in which they resided. Abandoned. Ollie bagan to empty his pockets. Scarlett paced back and forth trying to catch her breath. Ollie created a pile of all the stuff. Most of everything was makeup. "One bag of chips?" Scarlett said as she stopped pacing. "I thought we were getting food?!" She grabbed the bag of potato chips. "Calm down," he said softly. "No- Ollie we don't need this shit- what is this? Lipstick?" She picked up the tube of clear gloss. "No- It's lip gloss," he said in his defense. "Do you even understand what we just did?" She said. "Please- please you're starting to sound like your mom,"He rolled his eyes. "Really? I don't think you do understand, you just stole from a pharmacy... Does the word stolen goods come to mind?" She dropped the gloss on the ground and turned around. "Fine- do you want me to go in there and turn myself in?"
"No- no- let's just go, I'm freezing my balls off out here." She said as she started towards the fence. "We should go through the church- just in case the cop's out there." Ollie said as he began to pack his stuff back into his coat pockets. She stopped in her tracks and turned around slowly. She began walking towards him, her eyes blazing. "Come on- I'm sorry, you can't stay mad forever. She walked past him and kept on walking towards the graffiti covered church. "I know," She said.
Ollie caught up to her and wrapped his arm around her. "Come on buddie-o let's go home" Ollie said with a smile. She couldn't stay mad at him for long. Well at least we know one thing..." Scarlett said. "What's that?" Ollie said in reply. "There is no way I can get my prescription there..." They laughed as they opened the rusty door to the Church.
