Maybe it was the way Carol tied her hair during training, a high ponytail with a few strands of hair falling out of it and brushing softly against her face while she fought. Maybe it was the way her shoulders would shake as she laughed, the sound resonating in the room and lighting it better than fireworks. Or maybe it was how her eyes would always shine, strong with power and determination, even in the darkest moments. Either way, Wanda knew that the woman desperately held her heart and she would die for her. And dying she was. Literally.

Their meeting couldn't be more common. Well, as common as it can be considering the kind of life they lived. Carol had been called to help the Avengers on a mission and was introduced to the team during the meeting preceding it. She introduced herself with a smile and proceeded to explain the threat. They all went to fight and the mission was a success. She and Carol had been paired up to secure the perimeter. Wanda used her telekinesis to locate the enemies and Carol knocked them out with a blast. Within 2 minutes, they had every enemy down. Once they were back, Fury congratulated them and even hinted that they should team up more often. Wanda smiled, proud of herself, but when Carol put her hand on her shoulder and told her she did a really good job, she couldn't help the slight blush conversing her cheeks. They didn't really have time to celebrate since Carol left not even an hour later, leaving them (leaving Wanda) to take care of Earth on their own, returning to the deep ends of space.

Six months later and no news of Carol. Yet, not a day passes by without Wanda thinking of the blonde. She is a total stranger to this new feeling. Why would her heart beat faster when she thinks of Carol? Why would she get lost in her hazelnut irises, completely forgetting the world around her? Getting fed up with not understanding what is happening to her, Wanda decides to ask someone to explain. Surely, one of the Avengers will know what is happening to her, right?
"Steve, can I ask you something?" Wanda timidly interrupts the super-soldier as he trains.
"Of course, Wanda," he settles the weights back on the track, "What can I do for you?"
"Well, huh..." the young woman plays with her fingers, "Recently, I have been feeling... things."
"Things?"
Wanda nods, unable to explain better.
"What kind of things?" Steve pushes gently further.
"I don't know exactly how to explain. My heart... It goes really fast. And my chest feels weird, like it is heavy but light at the same time. One second, everything is fine and the next second, my heart beats in my mouth, my stomach drops and I have this tickling feeling all over my belly."
"Does it happen all the time?" Steve raises his eyebrow, already seeing where it is going.
"The first time was when we had this meeting with Carol and then when we had the party after the mission. You were talking to Carol and-"
She is interrupted by Steve's laugh. She frowns. "Did I say something?"
"No, not at all, I am sorry. I am not laughing at you, I promise. Wanda, you do realize you have a crush on Carol, right?"
"A crush? Me? No, that can't be. That's impossible," She shakes her head.
"Why not? You have every symptom, Wanda. It is nothing bad, I promise."
Wanda looks at him, uncertain. "Even if I do have a crush, so what? There's no way she will ever look at me. We barely know each other."
"I would bet differently. If you say Carol doesn't know you well, why don't you try to solve this problem? Next time we see her, ask her to spend some time with you."
