A BRIGHT AND SUNNY AFTERNOON it was in the month of September. Valerie Kester stepped out of her evergreen 3204 Stepside Pickup truck named Esmerelda, or Ezzie, who had been with her since she got her license. It was the cheapest Momma could get, so Valerie was beyond grateful for it. Her bright blue eyes got blinded by the Sun; her right hand came up instinctively to cover them.
