The next thing Alexa felt was excruciating pain in her back, as if someone was ripping her spine out.  She tried moving, trying to claw her way out of her current position, but she was firmly strapped to a bed.

'What the fuck did you get us into, Lexa?!' One voice screamed in agony, one voice was usually quiet and the third was laughing maniacally. As her heart rate picked up and sweat coated her forehead, she struggled to remain in control. She was screaming, but she could barely hear herself. She wrapped her hands around the chains on her wrists that's connected to the bedframe, and bit the inside of her cheek. She tried to distract herself by thinking about the things she has learned about herself from Josephine. She's been spending a lot of time with her grandmother. She learned of a man named Ruan, who was apparently her best friend. And, to her delight, she learned of her pet raven named Rene. She learned of her parents and the revolution they started. But when she couldn't handle the pain any longer, Alexa lost consciousness, currently going through the most horrific pain she's ever had to endure, she regrets ever agreeing to Miranda.

"Shh, darling... I know... this is your last treatment." Miranda whispered in Alexa's ear, softly caressing her cheek. Across her back, along her spine, a massive black wound or mark appeared, resembling roots and decaying flesh. Her chest slowly rising and falling, Alexa remained unconscious.

"What will happen to her? What do we do now?" Josephine washed Alexa's back with some water and soap.

"We wait. I'm afraid I have no idea when she will wake. As for the changes to her body, that remains to be seen."

"What do you mean, changes to her body? What happened when you introduced the Cadou to your children?" These questions had Miranda thinking, deciding wether or not she would tell Josephine the whole truth or not. After a moment of silence, Miranda spoke.

"They are not my children. Adopted children, false children even. Mere experiments," Miranda hissed, before turning to Josephine, "the youngest gained the ability to manipulate and control metal. The second youngest was able to transfer parts of her consciousness to multiple of her hand made dolls. The second oldest suffered greatly. He became grotesquely deformed, able to mutate into a giant fish-like beast. And lastly, my eldest." Miranda paused, thinking of what she's done to her false children, and how much she despised them. Josephine could tell there was something off with their relationship, sensing Miranda has done something awful to these people, especially the two oldest children.

"My oldest grew in body size, standing at about 9 feet, and developed an insatiable hunger and desperate need for human blood and flesh  due to a hereditary blood disorder she had when she was human." Miranda tried to sound remorseful, but Josephine knew better. Instead of saying something, Josephine just focused on Alexa's wound.

"No, my lady. You're wrong. You don't deserve this, none of you ever did." Alexa cried softly in her unconscious state. Miranda wondered what she was dreaming about. There was but one person who is referred to as 'My lady'. The younger witch's body shook as she cried, but she quickly relaxed when Josephine stroked her hair.

"And now, we wait..." Miranda murmured to herself.

Alexa jumped up, sucking in air as if she was stuck under water for a long time. She falls from the bed, pulling a trolley with medical equipment down with her. The sound of the stainless steel tray and scalpels hitting the floor echoed through the room. After a moment of shocked and slightly funny shock, Alexa started panicking.

*"What. Where are we? What happened?"

*"Fuck... we could use a cigarette..."

*"Je tuerai celui qui nous a laissé ici à mains nues!!"

"Shut it, ladies. Good to know you're still here... fantastic." Alexa groaned, slightly disappointed that they were still there. She sat down on the floor and put her head between her knees to try and calm herself. She closed her eyes and slowly came to the realization that she's changed. Mentally and physically she's changed. A numb, throwing pain on her spine caused her to lose her control even faster. 'What happened to me...'

*"Miranda can answer us. We need her... where is she?"

*"Miranda?!*

*"Lexa! Calm the FUCK down!" The angry voice bellowed, catching her off guard. She lifts her head and looks around. She smiled dryly when she spotted her cigarettes and lighter on a table nearby. She hastily jumps up and snatched it from the table, lighting one and immediately started stress smoking to try and calm down.

"Another failed experiment." That voice, the voice she's grown to love... Miranda's voice was like a breath of fresh air to her. She fell in love fairly quickly, during the last two weeks spent with her, thinking back to some days when she was snuggling warmly against Miranda's naked body.

"Don't leave me..." Alexa would whisper, looking deep into Miranda's eyes. Alexa was begging, after years being alone, begging Miranda not to leave her. And Miranda promised, smiling a deviously false smile Alexa couldn't see. And Alexa believed her with all her heart.

But the icy cold stare of Miranda made Alexa's heart race and her stomach heave. Something was wrong. 'What did I do?'

*"Oh god, we've upset her... she's going to leave! She's leaving us!"

*"Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck!"

*"Shit, Alexa! What the hell did you do?!"

"Miranda? What... why - what's wrong? What happened?" Alexa's heart was hammering against her ribs and her hands were trembling.

"You are a failure. But luckily I still have use for you." Miranda's demeanor changed drastically, from disappointed and angry, to falsely happy and friendly. But Alexa's mind was far away, internally scolding herself for upsetting g Miranda. And running all the conversations they recently had through her mind to try and find the mistake she made. She was spinning out of control, and Miranda smiled, waiting for her to break down.

"What... what have you done to me..." Alexa shifted uncontrollably as she felt a strange, moving sensation on her back. Josephine ran over and kneeled down next to her, placing a supportive hand on her shoulder.

"Nothing you didn't agree to." Miranda laughed. Alexa started screaming as the pain in her back got unbearable, arching her back. Josephine lifted her shirt to check her wound. What she saw scared her to death.
